when the Jason Sparks "tour" came around to my town a couple years ago, I called and spoke to, I guess, Jason himself.....he was professional and answered my few questions honestly......he suggested a couple guys and the meeting with them went well.....it appears he's doing things differently now and I don't know about his current guys.....I did not get the feeling the guys a couple years ago were slaves or drug-addled, but, rather, were disillusioned about the money that may've been promised when they joined the tour.....I talked with them a good bit during the meet and they were honest and didn't seem under any stress (except for lack of money)

not trying to pick a fight @nycman , but I was just in Barcelona a couple weeks ago for a week and saw no evidence of rebellion or tension....only lots of Catalan flags hanging from balconies......tons of tourists....lots of law enforcement, but I chalk that up to the recent truck massacre on Las Ramblas, not the independence movement....... @Axiom2001 : I'd give Thermas Sauna another chance.....I also asked if I could keep my street clothes on and they said no (unlike 117 and 202 in Rio).....they gave me two towels at check-in, a small and regular.....I put the regular on and it covered me fine and I didn't feel the need to constantly hold onto it to keep it wrapped on me.....the sauna is clean-feeling and not unpleasant...the usual aggressive dudes, at times, but that's the name of the game at these type joints!

what did the roommate/host who invited his first friend have to say about that first friend inviting the others?......did friction develop at the party at all?........I have to wonder how truly "relaxed, informal" this party really was if there was such a strict guest list......was a lot of money spent on food and bev?...... I don't disagree with you....just being devil's advocate to make sure all the facts are known!!......I hate drama!

bad news.....though we hadn't communicated in a long while since, he and I traveled to Brazil in 2012 together on my first trip to Rio.....his experience there, as well as that of another well-known Rio traveler we met, made the trip much easier for me.....he was a good guy thanks for making the post @Charlie

On a recent American Airlines flight from Barcelona to JFK, the flight attendants were panhandling! I guess American (and others?) has a campaign now to take donations of any country's currency. Good way to get rid of leftover Euro coins. Otherwise, I dropped a few coins in the various cans/hats of needy-appearing street people/entertainers while in Barcelona and while on another recent trip in SE Asia. Thought it might bring me good Karma while a visitor in their land. In the US? Almost never.

Rather than being a "thanks for your service" post, I, too, thought the OP was subtly suggesting he knew some military guys who'd meet up with "clients".

A 1984-era Kitchen Aid lasted about 28 years for me, from new in the then-new house to final death. One repair required a couple years before its ultimate demise. I now do dishes by hand while I wait to undertake a full kitchen re-do.

For those who don't yet know the way @coriolis888 suggests for how to read full RM review texts, Google "hide me proxy" and go to that "hideme" page. Enter the full URL of the individual RM ad in the search box and click on the yellow box below it. Then go the reviews and full text, when the reviewer even offered it, is available. You do not need to register at the site. Just go directly to the white search box and nearby yellow box. I'd normally post the actual clickable hideme link here, but can't at the moment.

Thanks for carrying on the tradition @marylander1940 while I do other things for a while.

A family friend jumped from the Golden Gate Bridge many years ago. For those interested, the documentary "The Bridge" is an excellent review of suicide from the GG Bridge. At youtube, search "the bridge 2006 full documentary" for the free full show. First few minutes will haunt you and suck you in for the rest of the show.

@OceanTraveller It is not going to be on Easter weekend. In January or so, Oliver will make a public forum announcement of the weekend and invite all forum members. If you indicate you'd like to attend, he will keep you updated with times and places. I'll have a car and am glad to pick you up for the dinner and pool party.
