You did everything right (except miss his quick recent visit??). Pre-pay has been much-discussed here for years and is typically not at all encouraged. He may have a Columbus "anchor client" and might have been looking for a new one. If you're still "speaking" to him and still want to meet him, your options include waiting until he returns or taking a Florida vacation this winter! If it makes you feel any better, I doubt he still looks like the Ashton of eight years ago when he was just starting.

Watched the third/final episode last night, which concludes with Hitler's power consolidation after Hindenburg's death. The melodramatic music still overpowered some of the narration. Actors were used to recreate most of the events, which is ok, but the entire production seemed terse and rushed. The mood of the country seemed entirely ignored. Anybody else watch it? Opinions?

because of all these years of "pay upfront" horror stories here on the forum, I now try to do this when meeting a new guy: if he's not well-known, hasn't been recommended by somebody, and/or has little or no positive chatter here on the forum, I'll say during pre-meet planning that I'll pay at the end, don't want to talk money during the meet, and then I ask him to confirm that will be ok.......some will still ask to "see" the fee beforehand and that's ok with me.....despite all this, one guy did ask for payment upfront and I said "no, I'm an honest guy, and I'll pay in full at the end of the meet".......he sheepishly said "ok" and we proceeded as planned....
