I definitely agree with dreamboy13, and the same goes for their other spa, Utopia, on 70th & Lex. The spas are co-owned, by Jack and Mark. Whenever I've been to Shangrila, Mark is at the reception desk. Both are very nice guys.

Length of the massage is entirely up to you. I think Jorge can go 90 minutes without getting tired or bored. There was a thread last week about this. Some people said they definitely prefer 90 minutes because a masseur can't really do a good job in 60 minutes. You might look for the thread and then PM anyone whose comments interest you. Whichever you choose, I'm sure you will like Jorge's massage.

$90 for a 90 minute massage at a spa sounds just right to me. And you say that's what their web site says. The masseur told you that it costs $180? GODDAM RIGHT you're being scammed!! You should complain to the management.

The only spas I go to are Utopia and Shangrila. Masseurs at Utopia get one-third of the $60 we pay for an hour. My usual tip is $60. That means I'm paying $120 for a satisfying massage experience, which is on the low end of what massages cost these days. That's reasonable for me, and a decent outcome for the masseur. When I go to a non-spa masseur, either incall or at his place, I don't tip. If I happen to be short of cash, I use a credit card to pay the spa. Utopia charges $5 for using a credit card, but that's OK. I'd rather pay the $5 than give a tip that's too small. Rugger paid $50 at Men's Spa. IMHO, 20% was way, way, way too low. How much of that $50 did the masseur get? If you liked the massage, I'd tip him more next time, and explain that you were short of cash the first time. I think your masseur will appreciate that, and give you very good service!

I saw "Gary" last night, and disliked it intensely. Much of the humor revolved around penises, excrement, and flatulence, and half the audience loved it, just like the third-grade level potty humor in The Book of Mormon.. The NY Times review used the word "mess" more than once, and that's an understatement. Yes, people near me were laughing their heads off, and just as many sat in silence. I agree with Cooper that "Gary" is bizarre, but that's about all I agree with. Nathan Lane is who I went to see, and he's the inimitable Nathan Lane, but I wonder about the crummy scripts that he and his agent must have rejected if this crap is the best he could find.

I can understand Oaktown's comments, but I don't understand what Otto means about the baby oil. Two of the best, and sexiest masseurs I know (RJ near Orlando, FL and Arjun here in NYC) use copious amounts of oil -- and know how to use it! Why baby oil should signify that "the massage was going nowhere" is a mystery to me. Can you please explain?

Went to Shangrila today for Jorge. Everything I've heard is true; he massaged muscles I didn't know I had! VGL, too. Not very talkative, as he's still unsure of his English, but a very nice, accommodating guy. Mark told me that he's received lots of favorable comments about him. Mark also told me that the Shangrila masseurs work at that spa only, but some of the Utopia masseurs spend a day at Shangrila. Really a first class operation!

I was going to contact this masseur, and though his ad is still on Rentmasseur, it says that "his profile has expired." Is there a reason why so many masseurs say "Ask me" in their ads? I find this annoying, and I rarely bother to inquire; I just pass them by, as it's a nuisance. I also notice that he doesn't list "therapeutic" in his ad, which makes me even more interested, but not interested enough to follow up and "ask him" what his rates are. Do they think that refusing to list their rates insures "serious inquiries only?" I think it definitely discourages serious inquiries, such as mine would be -- if I asked.

There must be some kind of publication, a guide to gay resources for cities in various countries that you can find. I'm sure that resorts, hotels, clubs, etc. are included, and I suppose that masseurs would be there also.
