Once a year is the standard. And there is stuff that can go on below the gumline that is serious. But most dental insurance is very close to a wash in terms of premium versus what it covers(annual limits are often low); if you are reasonably good about your oral hygiene you're probably better off putting the monthly premium into a savings account and paying out of pocket. The dentist will often cut you a deal to not have to deal with filing a claim with the insurance company which will pay less than sticker price anyway.

I've asked dancers at Adonis Lounge what their name is(not having met them before) and most will tell me "X, but Tim lists me as Y in the emails." My dentist did once suggest I switch to getting cleanings every three months to help with gingivitis when I was in my late 20s, and after less than two years she said it had improved and I could go back to every 6 months. She did offer to replace my silver fillings with porcelain and I said yes because I had some rather large metal fillings that I was self-conscious about and they were decades old anyway. But since then she hasn't done anything that could be characterized as pushing stuff on me. Of course she could just be waiting until my front tooth which is mostly veneer fails and then I will probably be a candidate for 4 implants because my top 4 teeth really don't match up that well...

I would never tell someone anything negative about their tattoo. What's the point? It would be obnoxious. (Well I suppose if they got something written in a language I knew and they didn't and it was something offensive, I might. Or if their tattoo was a swastika and not the Hindu one...). But my general opinion of them is they only look good on people who look even better without them. Come to think of it, that's often true of many types of clothes as well... Body modification is a whole other thing and those giant earlobe stretchers flat-out skeeve me out. The occasional piercing doesn't really have the same effect, but beyond a couple, I think it's just odd-looking.

I went to college late 80s/early 90s and nearly all dorms were coed and only the all-female dorm had any sort of restriction on visiting hours. This was in the godless liberal northeast though so other parts of the country may have taken longer to go that way.

For multi-hour appointments regardless of frequency I would think some break is warranted. The single hour rate is higher because of the fixed costs of travel time and preparation. If the rate is $250 for the first hour, the second should be more like $200 and I've seen some that go even lower. I've seen things like $300/1hr, $500/2hr, $800/4hr advertised. But given you've already seen him several times I'd ask him and see what he offers rather than risk lowballing him and turning him off/making him feel he can't counter.

The only gyms I've been to that were completely open with just showerheads on a wall were YMCAs and HS/college locker rooms. Nobody used my HS showers and very few people used the college ones. My local YMCA installed partitions and curtains over the showerheads in the early 2000s. Which was bad because the showerheads were pretty close together and that meant you'd bang your arms on the walls. I've seen one or two gyms where there were just walls between showerheads but the front was open so you were exposed to anyone walking past, but nearly all have curtains or doors.
