  1. It's several things combining. Schools used to make kids shower( I suspect that was a backdoor public health requirement - some didn't have access to a shower at home and just making everyone shower got those kids clean without singling them out) so more people "got over it" earlier. Also with larger families back in the day most kids shared bedrooms and changing in front of someone else was not an unusual occurrence. But also increased awareness of "the gays" likely did lead some guys to cover up more. Schools stopped making kids shower, then they carried their hangups with them to college and because college is now a consumer experience, market forces took out the gang showers. So most guys get to their mid 20s never having been naked in front of someone.
  2. Look, there's reasonable doubt, and there's shadow of a doubt and those two things are not the same. Is it POSSIBLE he didn't do it? In the sense that theoretically almost anything COULD happen, yes. Is it LIKELY? No. Him not being the perp requires a whole lot to have happened that we don't seem to have seen any signs of.
  3. The thing about mental illness is people can look perfectly rational on the outside for periods of time. Relatively few people are clearly lunatic 24/7. I have some relatives with bipolar and most of the time they seem perfectly fine. But when they aren't, they aren't. The other interesting thing is something about mania interferes with memory formation. So one of them has zero recollection of the incidents that cause people to distance themselves from her.
  4. I mean, there's still some possibility this is a psychotic break on his part which might explain the apparent gaps in planning. He's at the age where it often first manifests. Then again he's also at an age where a lot of men in particular think they are smarter than everyone else. He also could have not been trying hard to get away out of curiosity how long it would take.
  5. You'd think he'd at least have colored his hair to change his appearance.
  6. You're illustrating my point here. The finishing touches on these houses add little to cost of construction but add a lot to the sales price and cost of maintenance. Nobody builds starter homes any more not because there aren't people who will buy them, but because someone else will pay more for a slightly nicer looking house. But those people who would have bought a starter house are stuck renting(and rent control outside of NYC is rare).
  7. If you click on appointments it takes you to their scheduler and if you click on the treatment you want then you select a provider and then you get to their available dates/times.
  8. This. A lot of people who are relatively well off really have no idea how much things have gotten worse for the have nots. Life in this country is increasingly a lottery of birth. I think part of the problem is that there are a number of visible things that are vastly better and people incorrectly infer that therefore everything is similarly better. To wit: when I was a kid a 25 inch color TV cost 500 bucks. Today you can get a 50 inch flat-screen for half that. Vast improvement. But housing relative to income is vastly more expensive. Average income doubling means nothing if all of the aggregate increase went to 10 families at the top. And then if prices went up, the country as a whole is worse off, not better. I'm one of 6 kids raised by parents who fell almost out of the middle class when I was about 5. They cobbled together enough income from two shitty jobs each to keep the roof over our heads and we all managed to go to college. 5 of us graduated. I look at the cost of living in my town now and don't see how it would be possible for a couple to do what my parents did. And of the 6 kids, I and my younger sister are the only ones likely to be really financially stable in retirement. One will pretty much certainly be relying on me to keep her off the street, another is a cheapskate and resourceful so he'll manage, and another will probably scrape by. The other is already in a nursing home on Medicaid, and I'm terrified of what havoc is going to be wreaked on that system, because it would take me down too if her care suddenly stopped being covered.
  9. Looks like a couple are on the New Paradise schedule now.
  10. Anyone know if he's still around?
  11. Perp walks should generally be banned IMO. How are they anything but prejudicial to potential jurors?
  12. I don't think the concerns about society snapping are as far fetched as some of you think they are. I think over the last 20 years the world has become much harder for most people who are not well above average in either ability or income. The safety net is not what it was and with smaller families people who do find themselves in trouble often don't have family to turn to.
  13. My PT uses gloves when he's doing work on my spine, doesn't wear a mask. I had one PT who didn't always but she also usually wasn't going that deep or long and she did sanitize her hands before and after.
  14. The ine and only time I had a therapist use gloves was when my back had broken out in acne in reaction to having my back sugared. And that was understandable to me.
  15. That would explain why the online appointments isn't working.
  16. Would depend on what it was for. Drug possession...well frankly that's luck of the draw, wouldn't faze me. Battery/theft/rape/manslaughter would def be an issue.
  17. Yes, I'm saying he was not the only healthcare exec there. I'd say whoever had their picture on the same web page as him might have been the victim had they shown up first.
  18. Maybe it was a shoot the first C-suite person you see and not him specifically.
  19. Ad now says Birmingham.
  20. When you're hiring you call the shots. It's the guys who want it for free I take issue with.
  21. I've kind of thought I'm not sure i have what it takes for a long-term relationship, mainly because I already have a caretaker role in my family and consequently have less to give to a partner, and would kind of prefer to be "the other guy" but am not really forward enough to seek that out explicitly. That said, I find the married guys who are totally unwilling to kiss or cuddle even the slightest bit a major turnoff. It can feel pretty dehumanizing.
  22. Generally speaking at the Vegas spas nude is fine in the tubs and when you're sitting down in the sauna or steamroom, but just walking around naked is going to draw some attention and if you're too obviously looking to play you're gonna get kicked out.
  23. The medication side effects have vastly diminished. In the early oughts you could identify a lot of people on the meds by the distinctive facial wasting. I knew of at least one person who found the side effects so bad he just stopped taking them and succumbed to the disease. I don't see that happening now with the people I know are HIV+. As for the not remembering, that's already happening with 9/11 and was even before the pandemic. It's a regular phenomenon.
  24. The reason they didn't let Giuliani file was he was flouting the process, moving stuff out of his apartments into storage units where the owner wouldn't allow the creditors in, turning over the car but not the keys or title, etc.
  25. But do they survive bankruptcy? I'd think he'd just file.
