  1. You know it's not like they then stick you in a room of COVID patients to see if you get it? They just tell you to do as you've been doing and compare rates between the groups after a couple of months to see if the vaccine group had a lower rate of infection. So you're either getting the vaccine early or you're not, the latter of which puts you in no worse a position than not being in the study.
  2. Governor of Nevada just dropped the hammer and is requiring masks in all public places except when eating or drinking. Hopefully this gets things under control.
  3. Um, sordid details are what we're all here for. Spill!
  4. Back in the days of gay.com, I got hit up on my profile by a couple of doctors in NYC who were basically looking for a houseboy. I was 29 and gainfully employed at the time, and I declined but was bemused. Once in the Gaiety I was standing along the wall in the audience wearing cargo shorts and a Tshirt and an older guy leaving said 'you should be up on stage there" and I wondered if he was making an opening offer but I just laughed and said I wasn't sufficiently endowed to pull that gig off. Temperamentally I don't think I could have ever done it. I certainly couldn't have done it for someone I wasn't attracted to. But hey, if, say, Pierce Brosnan had made me an offer...
  5. If you really can't deal with "boyfriend," you could call him "my fella." People would know what you meant, it doesn't imply he's a child, it's not as clinical as "partner."
  6. There's also simply that most people now are doing SOME measure of distancing, so the average initial exposure and viral dose is likely lower.
  7. Haagen Dazs actually downsized the pint to 14 oz and the quart to 28 oz.
  8. Eh, I wouldn't get too hung up about calling him your boyfriend, I hear it used all the time by much older people. And straight people do it too.
  9. It wouldn't surprise me if it's more a long-term benefit rather than taking it upon getting the illness so the study may not say much.
  10. A factor that could possibly mitigate the severity of the disease is Vitamin D levels. People in the South are far less likely to be Vitamin D deficient, and there's a correlation between Vitamin D level and response to respiratory infection in general. So Florida could wind up with a lower death rate not because of anything they did.
  11. Instead of completely shaving the other body hair you could just use clippers on a #2 or #3 setting so you still have some hair, it's just not out of control.
  12. I mean, if you trust their SOs are being careful, it's probably not horrible to have them over. I REALLY do not get the impression most couples who don't live together are staying apart like this.
  13. NJ is allowing massage parlors to open on Monday along with barbers. I assume they require masks for both therapist and client.
  14. You need to watch her NPR "Tiny Desk Concert."
  15. The fact is we don't HAVE a "System" of elder care in this country. We have a patchwork of distinct systems(government, private pay, Veterans, "charity"), that barely talk to each other and often contradict each other, everyone playing a game of hot potato to not be the one who pays, and people generally don't plan, so when the need arises to navigate this system, they have no idea what the hell to do, and suboptimal decisions are made all over the place. And it's generally something you only do once in your life, so you don't even get a chance to use what you learn about it. It's horrific.
  16. Their cases are going up sharply. The gaming commission needs to get their heads out of their asses and require masks on the casino floor, not just at tables.
  17. Well when you consider that a lot of food venues are closed and have restricted capacity, it's not surprising. Most of the buffets have a line during normal times.
  18. To be fair, the working out and diet required for his maitenance of that musculature and bodyfat doesn't leave a lot for the old grey matter. The brain runs on glucose...
  19. I meant to type IRL=In Real Life. I think his first romance was when he was 18 or 19 with a late 30something woman and when he was in his 30s dating a woman who was 19ish he went on about how wonderful he thought that age gap was as if he was paying it forward or something. He thought he was saying something sophisticated and he came off creepy. He's not the sharpest tool in the shed.
  20. He's a bit of a cad IRL apparently. Likes them younger than an age where they're looking to get married.

  22. They did it here for airfares, I don't know why hotels get away with it.

  24. There is a "naked barber" in NJ...haven't been to him so can't say anything about his services.
  25. I think it's still technically banned but somebody has to report it.
