Thanks Whitman. This one reminds me of the good old days when you could get into any office building without going through security, and the world was full of active T-rooms. I remember once checking myself in the mirror as I was leaving, all suited and tied, and saw there was a big stream of cum running down my chin. Always had a rag and can of cleaning fluid in my desk drawer.

I think your noncommittal text without any follow up works

    You're overthinking this.
'No, thank you, I'm not looking for company' will suffice.
    All very simple.

Cops often use the Grindr app to entrap gay men for "prostitution." There was that uproar after those Georgia police arrested gay men back in 2020 over Grindr, and charged with prostitution because they offered a smoke to the cop (which they claimed was payment for sex 🙄)

I honestly don't know why cops put fake profiles on Grindr to catch johns when there's more accessible sites. Best guess is that the police closet cases are already using it to hire.

Or...you could hire consistently well-reviewed escorts who also give professional massages; save yourself a whole lot of flusteration.

Agreed but something change in the provider's life and he's no longer to offer sex at the end of the massage to a client who he already sucked/jerked off or even more HE should say upfront.
"By the way I no longer do X, Y, and Z".

Ask. It's the best way of having clarity. I have seen providers who have actually done the opposite. They removed therapeutic from their options. I think it's ok to inquire, especially since there has been a change in their profile. Nothing wrong with inquiring for clarification.

Yea, sorry that happened to you. But I can't imagine I'd act any differently than did you. I'd be hoping that surely the experience would turn around, become more positive at any moment. That it never did is no way your fault. You know that, right? In this little hobby of ours sometimes lousy experiences, like shit, just happens. You came, paid, and left. Probably couldn't not pay without getting into some sort of a fight, and nobody knows where that might go. And you did have some sort of consensual contact, lousy as it was.
It was just a lousy experience. It sucks.
But there are a lot of good guys around, many on this site. Hope your next experience is wondrous, mind blowing, and ends way too soon.

What a weird experience. That guy doesn’t know what he’s doing. I’m sorry you had to navigate such an uncomfortable predicament with an unprofessional provider.

No you didn’t. You met someone pretending to be an escort. A proper escort would not have behaved like that. If you did anything wrong it was probably when you decided to hire him because it seems you didn’t hire a professional. Sorry it happened to you.

I’ve encountered more professionally acting guys from the massage sites than not and plenty of guys who give great massages.
There’s nothing inherently unprofessional about providing a HE is there?

Three different experiences with three different masseurs over the years.
    1) Excellent masseur who I had been seeing for several years for erotic massages. One time I called up for an appointment, and he said something like: "I have to tell you I am in therapy and my therapist and I have agreed I am not doing erotic massages any more, just therapeutic. If you don't want to see me anymore that is absolutely fine, and I can even recommend someone else who is very good and does erotic massages." I said that was fine, that I was happy to get his excellent therapeutic massages. I got two or three strictly therapeutic massages, and then he was back to full service. He simply needed to know that at least some people valued him for his massage skills, and not just sex...that he was regarded as a professional masseur not an escort. When he saw that was true, he and his therapist were fine with him doing erotic massages.
    2) Another excellent regular, who only advertised therapeutic and sensual, not erotic. After my first massage that ended with a HE, I said I would write a review. He said "Please only say sensual, not erotic. I am here on a student visa and have a government scholarship, and I don't want to jeopardize them." He was from a country with different laws and societal expectations. Fair enough. I assume most if not all of his clients got the full service. He just needed to feel safe.
    3) Yet another excellent regular from another country, whose every massage was "therapeutic, sensual and erotic" in his own words. One time as I was leaving he got a text from a former client who wanted to stop by for 10 minutes for a BJ. For language-skill reasons, he asked me to check his reply, which was "No I will not do that. I prefer to do massage." Again, he needed to feel that clients are coming to see him for his professional massage skills, not only for sex, even though every massage includes sexual acts.
Life is complicated and human beings are complicated. We all rationalize some things that may not be rational on the surface. What is important is for everyone to appreciate that understanding, direct honest communication and empathy go a long way.
That being said, at some point this masseur acquired a live-in boyfriend, who was living off the masseur's income, and then complaining about the source of the money. One day I arrived and the masseur said that the bf didn't like him doing massages in the nude, that he was leaving his bikini underwear on. I said that was nuts...that the bf was living off the income from the sexual services, was ok or at least resigned to the erotic massages, but wanted his bf to hide the family jewels? I said, "Just tell him you're leaving the bikini on when you are with a client, and then do what you want. You don't have to tell your bf everything...everyone has secrets." He said, "I can? Oh wow. I didn't know I could do that." Off came the bikini and he happily continues to provide the nude interactive services as before. Ah, an inexperienced youth.

I once booked a massage with a masseur at his home, without checking much into his set up or professionalism. I was young and naive, and this was before I actually joined the profession myself (call it my research years).
I turned up at the address given. It seemed ok. The masseur answered the door (I’d seen no pics of him, only a description and an outline of his services). He didn’t match the description but I was too scared to walk away…so I went in. He was very friendly, indeed he was delighted to see me.
I’ve written in more detail about it before so I won’t relay the whole story but the following behaviour occurred:
    - Using his loft (attic), a windowless cramped space accessed from the bathroom by a pull down loft ladder as his massage space. It didn’t quite have the right ambiance.
    - Letting me know, mid massage, that his wife would be home soon and I wasn’t to worry because she couldn’t get up the ladder…
    - Talking almost all the way through about how he wasn’t really gay but he liked massaging guys whilst he was naked.

The massage was mediocre, the ending wasn’t very happy and his wife called up from the bottom of the loft ladder if I’d like a cup of tea.
I didn’t return to him. The tea was too weak.

Masseurs offering erotic or sensual who take offense if you indicate you want something more …
lroviers in general taking (or should I say faking) offense at anything
fine if an individual provider doesn’t offer a service (that’s not the part that annoys me) and a client should figure that out before confirming an appointment, but in this industry I find it so disingenuous to act like there is moral outrage at the idea of something that isn’t atypical with other providers or in regular male-male interaction.

I hear this. Clients differ though. Some would be disappointed in the lack of effort. Others have ED, prostate issues, or anxiety, or, like you, just aren’t feeling it. Some clients release without even being hard (not that uncommon). Some clients are very relaxed from the massage and aren’t hard, but get hard with some attention, and want it.
Damned if you do. “Read the room, man”
Damned if you don’t. “I’m disappointed he didn’t even try”

You might start by asking before you book if the masseur is comfortable discussing sensual/erotic aspects of their service. This step is an opportunity for the masseur to say “Sorry, I offer therapeutic only”, or maybe he prefers discussing those details over the phone instead of putting it in writing.
Many of the guys will say yes. That gives you an opportunity to ask things like “do you offer mutual touch”, or “do you offer a happy ending?”, and so on. If they have higher rates or additional fees for extras, they can break it down for you right there. Or say that XYZ is included, or that ABC is an upcharge.
That works well for me. I like dealing with business before and after table time, so that you can relax and enjoy your massage and get exactly what you want with no anxiety about what it costs or if something you want to happen actually will. I want satisfied clients.
One of the most irritating questions is “What is included in your massage?” The client has something in mind they want. I’d rather them just ask for it and I say yes or no. Or discuss pricing depending on their particular needs. That’s just me.
No need to beat around the bush. And man, have I seen some bushes in my day…and beaten around them. Have I mentioned I offer body trimming? 😆
