I used to think going out for a massage was a sad commentary on my need for intimacy. Ha! I'd kill to go back to my own life. Is there a safe way to get a massage right now? Massages used to be (still were until recently) a way to find intimacy if you were freaked out over AIDS/HIV.

boy, that's for sure; one time, just because I was so frustrated, I texted back: "shoot me a rate sheet and a shot of your taint.." and as they're figuring out whether I'm serious or not, I block them.

I mourned the loss of a few great masseurs who either retired or moved away. A few made me feel safe; especially when boundaries by both of us were respected And then, every now and then, you get back in your car and you're grateful to be safe and alive.

"Russian Roulette" -- that's pretty much what it was like with having sex back in the 1980s (and still today). I had an odd coming out. While I was figuring it all out, I learned about erotic massages, reading ads in the LA Weekly and later, Frontiers. Now, it's about making choices again. Ironic -- I should just try to find a monogamous relationship and settle down. Preferably with a guy who knows how to give a great massage!

Of course, it's a bit rhetorical in that a) it's never been 100% 'safe' -- once I had a guy straddle me and put my dick up his butt (no condom! Yikes! Until there's a vaccine, will it ever be safe to go out and get a massage either from a trusted regular, an potentially more exciting newbie or at a spa? B) I know it's person choice and always will be, but ... it's hard to think that things will return to normalcy anytime soon.

thanks PK. I'm old enough to know that if you wait long enough ANYTHING can happen; including this nightmare finally passing someday. In the meantime, I have memories to keep me warm. More than anything, this guy got inside my head and treated me with kindness. Nothing can take that away.

So...just to give an update, and I appreciate everyone's input, we were in touch and he was open to seeing me one last time. The ball was in my court. Then, the court shut down and no one can be within 6 ft. of one another. Ironical. But I had made my decision as to what I was going to do. And maybe still will do someday in the future if the stars align. Here's a Joss Whedon quote from his run on the X-Men from Kitty Pryde: Everything is so fragile.
