I had such a weird discussion with him recently. I requested a same day appointment which was about 3 hours in advance. He said yes but that I had to send him $50 by Venmo or equivalent.  I said, for my own personal discretion, I prefer not to pay electronically but would happily pay in full the moment I walked-in.
