I'm certainly not wealthy. But, I have acquired a rather nice nest egg for my recent retirement. It's not changed my spending habits at all. For example, at my Utah home my vehicle (up until last week) was a 1986 Ford F250 pickup truck. In Portland my vehicle is 2006 Chevy Trailblazer (it just turned 42,000 miles). Before I retired last month, my San Diego vehicle was a 2000 Chevy S1o pickup with 132,000 miles. I planned on moving the S10 to Utah to become my primary vehicle there. But, unfortunately, I was rear ended on the freeway while traveling to work. The S10 was totaled and I received a $5K insurance settlement. So, I used the money from the S10 to replace my F250 pickup. I bought a 2006 Chrysler with 77,000 miles for $4,000 (including tax and license). You can tell I've very frugal. At my Portland home the furniture and artwork were purchased from yard sales 15 years ago. The only exception is the recliner which I bought new in 1994. My Utah home is furnished with my parent's furniture which I inherited when they died. It is almost 25 years old and still is in great shape with no visible signs of wear and tear. On those occasions when I eat fast food I almost always order from the "dollar" menu. I do a lot of purchases from Dollar Tree including juices, milk, bread, toiletries, cleaning supplies, and glass items (all items are $1 or less). The pullover shirts I used to wear to work were purchased 8 years ago from JC Penny at an after Christmas sale for $3 each. I firmly believe in buying cheap and taking care of things.

In my personal life I've NEVER rented furniture. But, when working for a project in Canada, the company provided me with an unfurnished apartment (their expense) and say they would pay for rental furniture. So my two bedroom apartment had rented furniture for the 2 years I was assigned to the project. The only living expenses I occurred was for groceries. The apartment, furniture and utilities were reimbursed monthly thru expense reports.

@marylander1940 Thanks so much for your first post. It really illustrates the complexity of the rescue. I do much better understanding things when there are good graphics. I think your original post was very helpful to understand what's involved in this. And, let the haters start posting, but I would call this a miracle. But, I don't believe that only a "god" can perform a miracle. SEALS, doctors, EMS, and others perform miracles every day. And I also believe that those who perform miracles should be given the title of Hero.

I just moved from San Diego (lived there 2 previous times). I echo Balboa Park, the San Diego Zoo and Gas Lamp area. The Ebmarcadero is also another suggestion. Lots of shops and things to do - including tour of the aircraft USS Midway. The last 3-1/2 years I lived in Hillcrest and really loved that area with all the gay bars and gay-friendly companies / restaurants. I highly recommend Urban Mo's - good drinks and a decent menu. In the same neighborhood is the Crest Cafe (featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives). Been there with gay and straight friends and all loved the menu and food. https://www.crestcafe.net/ Also love Old Town. Great places to eat and some interesting shops. Can't suggest enough that you stay away from TJ. I don't feel safe there at all. But, you can access it from the trolley line and walk across the boarder. I usually walk to the main area of town - not sure I trust the taxi's there. I doubt I'll ever go there again. Nothing that I want.

As a client I'm very concerned about time. I'm the clock-watcher. If it's a 2 hour session, I always set a cellphone alarm for 1-3/4 hours. I want to be alerted to the time to make sure I don't go over the allotted time. Yes, some sessions have exceeded to agreed-to time. But, it was at the escort's choice and not mine.

I don't use banks and only 2 credit unions. Both credit unions offer to print and send checks for my recurring bills (no charge). So all my recurring bills are paid by the credit union using their checks - not mine. I'm not a big fan of giving other business access to my accounts for automatic payments. I must prefer doing the electronic checks rather giving them access. Don't trust a business automatically debiting my account.

One of courtroom shows that I really enjoy is Hot Bench. I believe Judge Judy is responsible for this show and is in the credits at the end of the show. Hot Bench has 3 judges that hear all cases and they come to a joint ruling. Interesting to see their give and take during the deliberation.

On my list is venison, elk, moose, squirrel, frog legs, and bison. I know these are probably not considered meat but they are exotic - snails and octopus. When I was in the Navy, our submarine went to a small town in Greece. We were the first USA ship to dock there in 20 years. Not a lot of people spoke English. One afternoon a group of sailors went to a local park and we bought meat on a skewer from a food cart. It had an unusual taste so we start pantomiming asking the vendor if it was cow or horse. Just then a dog walked by and the vendor pointed to the dog. Not necessarily something I want to eat again.

I generally book 6 weeks in advance. Before 6 weeks the prices are usually higher but I'd trust Kayak. FYI, best way to get from the airport is to take the light rail. Taxi or ride share (Uber) are super expensive and traffic is terrible. I flew into SEA in March and took the light rail to downtown and then walked to my hotel. Also, a lot of hotels offer free pickup from the train station or light rail.

Need a little clarification. Are you wanting to start a forum on this site or separate from this site? Charlie is totally right that you'd need Guy's agreement to add to this site. But, when I read you post, I assumed you were looking for info on how to a forum OUTSIDE of this site. FYI, I've had numerous medical issues in the past 8 years. I really got a lot of support from forums dealing with a specific medical issue. Have you considered starting a Facebook group where people share and support each other? That may be the easiest way to start out. But, quite frankly, administering such a site, monitoring posts, and disciplining the trolls isn't my cup of tea.

This has been one of my favorite books and movies. I had my parents read it when I came out to them. Years later, a co-worker told me his some came out and I gave him both the book and a copy of the movie. It's something a lot of people can relate to.

When I lived in Detroit I went to the Happy Tapp every weekend. I sure miss that place. And, I agree, the Gold Coast has been living on borrowed time for quite a while.
