Avalon, I understand you are reluctant to give out too much info, but a few things to consider here, since if there is any assisted living place that you can actually afford on whatever your income and savings are, then you might be able to do better having someone come to you privately working "off the books." If you have a two-bedroom, maybe you could even swing a live-in aide for less than what you would be paying at assisted living.. And maybe your landlord would be okay with you paying to convert the tub(and there may be programs to help with the cost).

 

There are many states that have nursing home diversion programs that you may be able to use, but you would want to consult an elder care attorney depending on your asset and income level. The initial consultation is typically free and these people are experienced at working the system.

 

Also, PLEASE do not give up on the idea of getting better. Physical therapy is much better than it was years ago, but you do have to be diligent about it. And you've discussed diabetes in other threads you really really need to keep that in check as it could be driving your other issues.
