Having commercialized sex with someone desperate for cash is not my idea of a good time. I find it abhorent taking advantage of someone in such a situation. Hopefully, most of the guys i meet up are doing it for "extra" spending money whilst in school.

Sadly sometimes we don’t know what’s behind the scenes until afterwards. A long time ago I hired a guy who upfront presented real well - until I got to his place. This guy was a hard core drug user with a shitload of drug paraphernalia in his bathroom. He was gorgeous in person as he was in pics. He will fool anyone. It was obvious he was doing it for drug money. In person he was edgy, irratic definitely high. To avoid any potential violence I gave him half of his fee and I took off.

The next day he texted me several times wanting to meet up at significantly low rates. Every time I declined - he lowered his rate. I finally blocked his number.

I have one that reaches out and texts me periodically. He never specifically asks for business, but he sends me messages such as, “I hope you are enjoying this weather,” or “thinking about that book we discussed. Always enjoy our chats.” I look at it as being either very sweet or just great customer service. Rarely, but sometimes, he will say something like, “thinking abiotic you and hoping that we have a chance to meet up soon.”

Maybe he really needed the money. Will serve him right if he loses his apartment because he can’t pay the rent. A few months of being homeless will teach him a valuable life lesson.

What is wrong with you that you wish homelessness on someone just for being inexperienced and clumsy in a new environment? OP even said he had a good time, the kid was just green around the gills.

What exactly is the "lesson" here? Don't be poor? What was his crime, being new? Do you realize how soul-shatteringly hard it is to be homeless for any amount of time, let alone pull yourself out of it? Have you ever experienced poverty, or even spoken to an impoverished person?

Think before you speak next time.

Riiiiight... because everyone knows that college students are the LEAST likely to be desperate for cash!! :p

Do you even remember what being a college student was like?? Literally I have never seen people more desperate for cash than college students. Even homeless people have way more options for getting free food than college students. College students are the MOST DESPERATE and also the EASIEST to take advantage of because they’re inexperienced. Why do you think SA is full of students ready to spend an entire evening with someone for $150-200? Colleges expect your parents to contribute to your educational expenses and if a guy’s parents doesn’t, then he’s fucked. Try studying 60 hours a week and then trying to make ends meet off the 10 hours a week that you manage to work for $7.25 per hour at your campus job. Great... $290 per month... oops I mean $200 per month after taxes. Try feeding yourself (plus buying toiletries, clothes, etc) on $200 per month while attending college, studying, and working 70 hours per week. If that doesn’t equal financial desperation, I don’t know what does. Hunger is extremely motivational.

Just be a good client, pay his asking rate, respect his boundaries, and leave on time. Don’t concern yourself with who is “desperate” for money. Half the time people are acting anyway. It’s all a part of the hustle.

Ummmmmm….it was sarcasm.

Not the best idea to say college students are more desperate than homeless people or that homeless people have more ways to make money. At least college students have a roof over their head and hope for the future.

Plenty of homeless people have roofs over their heads AND hope for the future. Also, I didn’t say they have more ways to make money. I said they have more options to get free food. Reading comprehension not your strength?

Point is college students are often much more desperate for immediate cash than homeless people. And that is the damn truth. Having been both homeless AND a college student, I definitely know both situations.

Homeless people qualify for food stamps. College students do not (even if they’re also homeless).

Homeless people who are not in college have time to apply to housing placement programs that most college students are not able to access.

Homeless people who are not in college have time to work a traditional job 30-40 hours per week and can search for one. Full time college students can not.

In America today, grocery stores throw out tons of perfectly good food on a daily basis. Sometimes they donate it to churches that give the food away in boxes to homeless people. How many college students who are studying 60 hours a week and working 10 hours a week do you think have time to go seek out and collect all this free food waste? These programs are all targeted at homlesss people (who aren’t college students).

Point is, college students have no support systems in place for them when they are broke and hungry. The systems designed to support homeless people aren’t accessible to them. Homeless people (who aren’t in college) have far more resources at their disposal than college students who are hungry. Which equals a much higher level of desperation amongst broke college students to earn something by any means necessary. Maybe you assume that all college students have year-round housing or meals provided daily but that’s simply not true.

Sorry, did not mean to be insensitive. I went to U Penn. Parents paid for it in full and also bought me a condo in center city. I did without a television though. As I was Canadian and couldn’t work, i would just fly home monthly or meet up with my parents in New York for broadway shows. So, i really don’t know how it is to work and study as i never did both at the same time. I am very lucky and fortunate.

I sort of wish I had become an escort when I was in college because I would have slept and eaten a lot more regularly in those years if I had!! But on the other hand, might be better that I didn’t. I doubt I would have had the judgement to make good decisions considering the position I was in.

We can roleplay that I’m still in college now tho if you want. :p

I appreciate your thoughtful response except the reading comprehension barb. Never had a problem with that. Comment made me feel bad.

Maybe my university was exceptional, but omg free food for college students...

Student orgs of any type could net free food if you knew where to find it. Even in grad school, you could at least find pizza most any day (if you listened to a lunchtime talk about some student interest group)

I’ve never been homeless, but I was a student for a good chunk of years.

Brings back memories, I was homeless in college for about 6 months. I refused to quit. I sleep in my car in 10 degree weather once. Campus police let me use their shower and on really cold days below 20, they let me sleep in their office and brought me morning coffee. The lunch ladies let me in for a dollar and let me take food for dinner. I was so lucky to have such great poeple around me.

If I got texts like that I would assume the escort likes me! am I wrong? Customer Service? really?

He sounds like he's new to it-- like you said, his profile is only a few weeks old. It takes time to find the right balance between waiting for clients to contact you and hitting up your regulars. He'll figure it out in time-- in the meantime, the fact that you had a good enough experience that you left a positive review is a great sign!

In my experience, the biggest red flag for a desperate escort is when they start lowering their prices to convince you to hire them.

Yes that may be a red flag, but why judge him for being desperate? If, as the OP said, he performed well, then give him another chance. Advice to the desperate escort...say you're a little desperate and you enjoyed the meeting so you'd be willing to discount a timely repeat understanding that the Clients budget might be an issue.

I don't think you'd be taking advantage them if it was proposed by the escort and fulfilled his need for positive cash flow. I think you have a glamorized unrealistic view of wealthy young men (exaggeration to make point) doing it for "extra" spending money whilst in school.

I really don't mean to be attacking you or your post...just providing a hopefully colorful different point of view.
