For my 14th birthday, my dad got me a Wilson A2000 baseball glove, top of the line. I was starting to get serious about a career in the pros, but my dreams never came true. My older brother, who was a much better athlete, told me in all seriousness that all major league players used cum to soften the leather and would help break it in. To my detriment I believed him.
