I have noticed over the past month or two that prices are rising. Masseurs who used to be in the $140-$150/range have raised their prices to the $160-$170 range. (My price point had always stopped at $150.) I have also seen a larger number of masseurs now in the $180 range. Any ideas why the sudden increase?

Everyone wants a raise once in a while, I suppose...

Only reason it’s going up is because people are willing to pay it. Simple laws of price.... if people quit paying it they would go down. I doubt that will happen though... I’m sure people said the same thing 10-12 years ago when prices started going into the $100 range. I still miss those days back in early mid 2000’s of negotiating down from 80 to $60 or so..... rarely did I ever pay $100...

I kind of feel like the masseurs have us by the balls. (pun intended) If they raise their prices, we have no option but to pay it. Our only other choice is to not to pay it, and not hire them, which means no erotic massages for us. And for many of us that is not an option, since then we only have places like Massage Envy for strictly therapeutic. I really feel like erotic massage prices are getting crazy.

DMITRI - Although I agree with you to some extent, I find that quite a few masseurs are offering discounts under certain conditions. It's not always practical "for appointments before noon" or "up to 3 PM" for the working guy but some offer a "20% discount for the week of . . . " and so on. If business was booming, I wouldn't think we would see this. At times, I do see it from our popular masseurs but not always the case. I took advantage of the sale with a masseur I've seen before and still paid him the full price. He was so surprised that I didn't take advantage of the discount. I told him that he was worth it and I considered the discount as part of the tip, so I still saved.

I'm thinking the increased law-enforcement focus onto the escort market may have sparked a migration of those seeking intimacy towards the massage market. If that is the case, I can understand masseurs increasing rates to compensate for the additional "work" and the risk associated with it.

Yes exactly my thought. I relied on Craigslist for cheap unknown masssage gems, especially in smaller markets. Those days are gone. Same demand fewer filling stations!

There's one provider I use who's $160/90 mins who is worth it. However he's set the bench high where I'm skeptical for guys charging that much for 60 mins. All the recent events have really done for me is to not try new people often. I'd rather have 1 awesome experience at a higher price than two decent ones at the same price. So essentially I use one guy for an unique massage and awesome fun time and another for deep tissue spa quality therapeutic. I just can't justify $100+/hr when I can just go to massage envy when really , the massage is the primary thing I want with extras on the side.

KINECTED - would you mind sharing your 'gems' with us . . . Or not? Your description sounds like a meal plan and that you've definitely got your favs lined up. Good for you.

It is always good to diversify your sources. RM's prices are too high. You can find a wider array prices in Adam, Friendboy, and Mintboys. I often pay way below 200.

I've seen Mintboys' website but I haven't seen Friendboy and no luck googling it either. And is "Adam" Adam4Adam?

Lol not really. I just shopped around. I was fortunate enough that my first massage was by someone who really did an awesome therapeutic deep tissue service and unfortunately he stopped so I had to find alternatives.

If the massage isn't good I'm just not going to repeat so with guys who do just do ok , I'm never really feeling relieved of soreness. I do workout and get knots in my back frequently. If someone works those out they are a keeper in my book. Also if they actually massage the quad area of my legs makes it a difference too.

I'm in Atlanta and use Tim who's been discussed a lot. Definitely an experience with his technique. And there's two guys who are fairly priced for their therapeutic work but don't have the pretty boy bodies but the massage is awesome and I am good if there's no extras.

I have been to Tim twice and he is awesome. Can you recommend who are the other two?

I hear it's the opposite. That shirts in photos have cut down regular MF clients some, even though Craigslist and BackPage types are texting.

The guys are trying to get back up to old income with higher prices, which is counter-productive.

With "extras" like nude, HE, etc and tip it always hits $200 anyway.

Oh sure...

Andrew. Very underrated. Think it's $100/90m. Awesome massage but no extras. But I didn't ask either.

David. Probably the best value in the area. Really good technique. He worked out knots on my back I wasn't even aware of. He could charge more if he wanted but that leaves more room for a tip if you like.

I wonder if these services get counted in the “basket of goods” used to calculate inflation? Apparently, they determine this from consumer survey data on expenditures, so I hope people are accurately reporting all this, so we can get some accurate statistics instead of just anecdotes. https://www.bls.gov/cpi/questions-and-answers.htm#Question_2
