The sites making a lot of money are making an effort to skirt the coming filters. The ones not making money are packing it in.

What kills me is Twitter/OnlyFans which is overwhelming porn and models saying "I am available for the next 4 hours on RentMan".

Well both Twitter and Onlyfans are not escorting sites, escorts just use them. A bit like arresting the hotel manager in the sting.

I'm sure there are some OnlyFans posters who wouldn't take a date for money. Not many, but some.

I'm amazed that Twitter/OnlyFans and Tumbler are the only two platforms that so far seem to not care when they have the most sex.

That's what SESTA is about.

Coming from the nutjob site infowars, but interesting read. Sex workers to reveal their congressional clients for passing the SESTA bill?

https://www.infowars.com/report-sex-workers-to-expose-politicians-for-passing-anti-trafficking-bill/

Thanks for the link!

I am usually an advocate of client privacy, but in the case of those assholes, I won’t shed a tear when their marriage falls appear because a google doc written by escorts has been made public.

I totally agree - I do not believe in outing people UNLESS they are hypocritical politicians or religious leaders who speak and work against exactly what they do secretely.

OUT THE BASTARDS!

Yesterday Rentmen removed the "Share on Twitter" option when setting our availability, so apparently they are concerned about directly involving Twitter in our advertising. Twitter seemingly is allowing us to continue sharing what we wish, however they are shadowbanning us (restricting who can see our posts based on what they deem objectionable without letting us know). I have been shadowbanned for months now.

Lots of Democrats voted for this legislation. To call out only one party for its hypocrisy is just as hypocritical.

Yup, especially when 15 out of the 27 members of Congress that voted against the bill were Republicans, only 12 were Democrats. Both corrupt parties are equally guilty of allowing hysteria determine how they'd vote on this...

Okay -- But Conservative/Family Value/Born Again Baggity Bigots/ Have a LONG history of Hypocrisy - and as Republicans they just retire/resign and fade away -ending up as OF COUNCIL to major law firms and on the Board of Corporate Supporters raking in multiples of 6 figures for going quietly into the night ---- The party takes care of their own after ripping them from the headlines

And luckily we still have Hour Boy!!

There was a time when I thought HourBoy seemed like a good site. It would be great if they could build themselves back to something viable - though in this current climate, I wouldn't be surprised if it just folded.

CBS is reporting a similar story only with a little more detail -

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/feds-seize-classified-ad-site-backpage-com-over-sex-trafficking-ads/

By the way, with the passage of the new laws, how is it that our country has not changed its name to the United States of Puritanical?

Sad days ahead. Count on it.

If any underage boys are found to be posting on RM, I believe it jeopardizes the existence of the entire website.

As an added precaution Rentmen should enforce a new policy that requires ID to be shown if advertising on their site. That would show they are being proactive and could only help their postion.

Wall Street Journal reports this action may not be directly related to the recently passed legislation. This is part of an ongoing previous investigation.

As far as I know the president has not signed this bill. It’s not officially law yet and federal action under would not be possible. Of course this is just supposition on my part. However, if the law has been signed then perhaps an announcement is forthcoming. I think there are plans for a signing ceremony, this is one of those bills the political class love to tout so they look good come election time.

I was wondering about that, as Backpage has been a known target for a long time now.

But let's face it - when they shut their actual "escort" pages down a while back, they clearly weren't stopping people from making the "dating" section into wall-to-wall escort ads. Which they could have prevented, or at least attempted to. So this was a disaster in the making anyway.

Craigslist solved the issue (at least for now) by shutting down all the personals, though ironically their "theraputic" section is still up and running, which could be a problem eventually. But I tend to wonder why BP didn't take a similar step.

Meanwhile, I hold to the hope that the feds are really after hetero sites more than anything else. Even in the BP story, we're hearing objections to phrases like "little girl" as code in the ads. I'm not saying gay trafficking doesn't exist - I'm sure it does - but I do assume that the focus of the new law is much more on the advertising girls more than the gay guys. We'll see...
