One reason guys hire is the ease of getting exactly what you want when you want it and especially from a guy who might not be otherwise interested. I’ve read that as a reason that forum members don’t get together for fun. While I would hire one type of guy, I’m definitely attracted to regular guys too and that’s what I typically get in hookups. I guess for me to actually find a "buddy" that meets my needs/desires and also the other way around seems like a lot of work.
