I don't decorate for any holidays. What is put up must come down.

When I was a boy we had a big picture window. I once asked my mother if I could decorate it. She said I could. I used that fake spray-on snow among other things.

After Christmas I had to undo everything. It was a chore. I learned my lesson!

In our family it's always been a BIG part of the Christmas holidays to decorate, starting with obtaining a great Christmas tree (visible in our big picture window!) and decorating it lavishly, with ornaments, lights and a tree-topper which have been added to periodically and passed down through the years. We decorate the tree as a family and after New Year's Day, we take all of the decorations down as a family, so it's always a traditional family get-together!

When you're single and pretty much gonna spend your Christmas behind your desk, there's just not much sense to decorate.... :(

I suppose that's a bit sad but true, dear @GLEE. Still, even during my most "Scroog-ie" Christmases, I always feel inspired to play Christmas music playlists and try to get into a somewhat festive mood! I guess I just can't help but continue to remain an eternally positive Pollyanna! o_O:)

A little bit - some candles and greens, a wreath hanging over the fireplace, Christmas cards displayed, a poinsettia.

And another thing I do most years is make a Christmas fruit cake. My mother used to make it. The stuff for it was expensive and didn't fit easily in the food budget, so she started buying the candied fruit and the nuts, a little bit at a time starting in October. I used to do that to, until I realized that I have plenty of money and don't need to scrimp and save in order to be able to afford to buy the groceries for the Christmas fruit cake.

I absolutely love Christmas with ALL of its vulgar commercialism. I spent two weeks decorating my 1200 sq. ft. condo with four trees and several wall units with hand carved Santas which I have collected over the years. My decorations are so extensive that I have to rent a storage unit to keep them all.

I have just finished baking 16 prune cakes (any old family recipe) and have given them out to family and friend. Tomorrow night I'm having two friend over for a prime rib dinner. On December 16 I will host 30 family and friend for a lasagna and Italian Christmas Calamari dinner. On Christmas Eve 10 friends will join me of beef stroganoff and on Christmas Day I will have another prime rib dinner, this time, for 6. Tomorrow I will also start baking 10 to 15 dozen cookies to serve with coffee after my various dinners. I'm absolutely loving ever minutes of all the preparation and the festivities.

I wish all member of this site a VERY WONDERFUL HOLIDAY SEASON. Love to you all

Sounds nice.

Thanks -- I love the Red Poinsettias and it makes my home feel even more warm and comfortable and a wee bit joyous --

I have a friend who has a huge garden and a green house and as the poinsettias start to lose their color I pass them on to her to care for - and the following season when they bloom she gives them to shelters/food cupboards/etc to use as decoration or as take homes for those who have homes.

I tried that once, I wasn't successful. I read a magazine article that told how to get them to bloom again. You have to regulate the light exposure really carefully. I gathered a bunch of cast off poinsettias and set them up in my "poinsettia clinic." Alas, I must not have regulated conditions carefully enough because I only got one to sort-of bloom again.

I've already put some Xmas decorations up even when I know I won't be spending Xmas eve/day here. I'll be spending the holiday with fam just like almost every time. Born & raised Catholic, Xmas is the most important holiday for us. <3

Catholic here too....but the nuns always taught us spelling it Xmas “takes the Christ out of Christmas”
