With these cam sites, as its a two way thing - can't they capture your video as well? Privacy has been the only reason I've shied away from these sites, although they have really aroused the voyeur in me.

 

Some of the cam sites (i.e. streamate) allow cam to cam viewing. Meaning if the cam guy is up for it he can view you as you view him. Both of you would need a webcam of course to do this. If you don’t have a webcam, he won’t be able to see you. If you don’t have a mic, he can not hear you.

 

So if you are concerned the guy can see you, he can’t unless you do cam to cam. With that said, should you want to do cam to cam viewing... yes, you can be recorded. With the right programs almost anything can be recorded, copied, or reprocessed in some fashion. I’m not saying the person on the other end will. If you look at any free porn sites, there are countless clips of webcam material. I know a few escorts and model type guys who absolutely refuse to do camming because they fear some random will post the clips. You aren’t the only one who is fearful.

 

Again, no cam to camming... no need to worry about being seen or recorded.

Thanks everyone for all the insight into cam to cam. I'm low tech and even Skype or Facetime sometimes unnerves me. Will also tape over the cam on my laptop - heard that is prudent to do anyway in this hyper suspicious/big-brotherish world we live in now.

Just a word of caution regarding Chaturbate: I bought tokens a couple of times and enjoyed tipping my favorite "models." However, I noticed that on my credit card four months later that I had been billed $25 a month from Chaturbate (I know, you should check your credit card bill every month for unauthorized payments - unfortunately, I wasn't doing that). I called Chaturbate to find out what the $25 was for. A woman (with a foreign accent) stated that I had signed up for this monthly "privilege" that allowed me to talk to the models privately and to use the word "f**k" in my conversations. Someone in one of these forums told me later that, when you are buying tokens they slip this option in 2 or 3 times - and it is very easy to authorize this payment, if you aren't careful. So, be very careful when purchasing tokens on these sites.

After reading this thread, and recuperating from surgery for a few weeks recently, I signed up with Chaturbate. Over the last few weeks, I have met some nice guys (broadcasters, in Chaturbate terminology) and some not-so-nice. Today, I thought I was having a positive experience with a Russian guy and his friend who wanted me to go private show for 1000 tokens ($79.99) to watch them fuck each other... being horny, I thought why not. BIG MISTAKE! Once I was in the private show, the broadcaster wanted an additional 1000 tokens for his friend "mike". I said his initial request was 1000 for a private show... he said no that was for him in a private show... I thought why not, they are cute, huge cocks, especially "mike" who was a grower... A few seconds after sending the additional 1000 tokens - I was kicked out of the room. By the time I tried to locate his room, the room went off the Chaturbate grid, no room by the name existed. So I have written Chaturbate support to report that broadcaster. I expect a "buyer beware" answer, but I tried. Without losing any money, I discovered two other Russian broadcasters were pretending to have friends at their place who were supposedly unaware of the camera... while signed into their rooms anonymously, I discovered them bilking users of tokens so they could watch the broadcaster "seduce his friend". Akin to the old carnival come-on. (If anyone interested in who the said broadcaster is, PM me.)

 

Also, unless you tip a lot, and your user name is "grey" (more like black), expect rude and snide comments from the broadcasters (with few exceptions) if you communicate publicly. It is expected that you tip first, request things after... And unless your user name changes color, do not expect any response. Especially true of European broadcasters.

 

As I said, I met some nice guys. But overall, I have spent way too much on my credit card! "Lucy, you got some 'splainin to do" is coming up shortly when someone else in the house sees the credit card statement...

I've only been visiting chaturbate for a few months. In that time, I only made one purchase of some tokens. I had a little fun tipping guys. But I don't really feel I got much for the money. And there's no way to stand out with the really popular broadcasters since there are guys who will tip them hundreds or thousands of tokens night after night.

 

So now I only lurk. Yes I'm a grey and proud of it.

 

I'll let the big spenders reward the broadcasters and I'll hang onto my money. I'd rather spend it on a good massage.

 

FWIW, I usually use the filters to only view rooms in the US or North America. Not that this helps weed out scammers but it seems to work for me.

BlueSky - thanks for the information. I have discovered the same thing with the popular broadcasters. After today's experience I am inclined to just hang onto my money and lurk. A massage sounds so good.

Thanks again for posting your experience Wunder. That's the kind of scam I could easily have fallen for on Chaturbate. I really doubt I'll be buying tokens again.

Very few guys on those sites in the bigger scheme of things are engaging. Most are a snooze fest, just lounging around, giving you nothing, while they listen to music or constantly check their phones, and letting you let at their messy, sloppy rooms. BORING, even if they are pretty or hot, that wears off after a few minutes.... They beg for tips, but dont wanna give you anything for it. Ocassionally you will come across a gem who KNOWS how to work the crowd and make those coins.

Those will be the ones I gravitate towards.
