Let me guess: reach them by email only to be asked for the stupid iTunes code? Could be... but also could be they don't want calls and they don't want to take off their ad so "regulars" that have their phone remember them? Not sure... But I have a regular masseur that his phone is not displayed on his rentmasseur ad... I'm not sure why. The first time I send him an email via rentmasseur and he repied promptly. He shared his phone and I hired him. It went well. He's now a regular. I think if they want to scam you they should make it easier for you to contact them, so is on their interest to have a phone published. That's my thought. But everything is possible... That still doesn't make sense to me. How can one judge how much business one might get in any particular city when one only offers one day on which to book? There might be a lot of business in Los Angeles but the prospective customers who aren't interested in September 4th would simply not bother contacting the advertiser. If it's marketing/fishing to see where it would make most sense to travel, it would make far more sense to simply say something like: "I will be traveling the western part of the US during September; please contact me for inquiries." Why would anyone living in, say, Scranton or Clearwater, contact this masseur given the obvious prospecting intentions and low probability that the masseur will actually show up. Moreover, even if someone is interested, what if they are not available on those two (randomly selected and meaningless) days, why would they get in touch? On a side note, if I see a very busy travel schedule from one end of the continent to another, I am reluctant to book given all the talk about various viruses going around.
