I believe @marylander1940 is correct. I definitely remember deleting a few of my own threads some time ago, and I think it was done using a drop-down option under "Thread Tools," although the only option now is "Edit Title."

That said, if you regret a thread-starting post, you can always edit it into oblivion even if you can't totally remove the thread (or other people's contributions to that thread).

How can I, the O.P. delete a thread?

I think you will find that you can delete a thread, but only when you are the only person who has posted in it. Once someone else posts you can't.

Just try re-reading your comments a few times before hitting POST REPLY... It makes a world of difference.

Oh, for heaven's sake @jjkrkwood. What's with this wacky "advice?" Have you been hanging out with @Eric Hassan a/k/a "Mr Follows The Rules?"

Hey, azdr0710! No real mystery here, I'll tell you what's going on. I made some recommendation for escorts I've "discovered" and I've been swamped with guys wanting to know a lot of details about my experiences with them, and what they will or will not do, etc. I don't mind sharing experiences, in fact tht's one of the nice perks of having this forum, but it just got to be too much. They're jamming up my email and conversations and all..... so enough.

While I’m aware I can’t delete a thread I am able to delete any content I have posted via the edit function. Logic tells me that if I started a thread or replied to another thread I could edit any of my postings by simply deleting what I typed and hit save. The thread heading is still there but there would be a blank posting from me. Am I correct in my assumptions?

People round these parts are "trigger happy", and dont re-read before they post. Your first thought isnt always your BEST thought.

Sadly, there's no way to quadruple-like a post.

Seems like there are many of yours (and I admit mine, too) that could've been thought better of.

That's true, but you can only delete your own postings, not those that others have placed on your post. You can also edit the title of the post.

And you can’t edit when other posters “quote” your postings...so even if you do delete your words may live on on quoted posts

You also can say as much on that thread, leave any pending conversation, not answer email and/or reply when it's more convenient for you.

It might be a little unfair to the people who responded to ask management to delete the thread without warning them on the thread that you were overwhelmed.
