Traveling: Why is it that more and more clients can't host?

For those who prefer to travel for safety reasons - do you only travel to their hotels? Would you travel to their home? It seems to me that's just as risky.

I think this relevant since it could be a factor in the OP's question.

If I'm on the road, I'll always invite them to my hotel (unless they're travelers too and are in a hotel I've always wanted to check out).

If I hire somebody local, right or wrong I'm less worried from a safety/ripoff standpoint if I know where they live. Google Maps is your friend as well. Still, I've wound up in a couple of guys' apartments which should be declared biohazards.

Some years ago, at least ten for sure, I hired a well known guy with stellar reviews on this site. He came to my apartment. We had a wonderful time and tore the sheets up something fierce.

After we'd settled up the final details it was time for the guy to leave my place. As he picked up his backpack a set of brass knuckles fell out and made a loud ping as they hit the floor.

We were both startled by the noise. We stared at each other, then the brass knuckles , and then back at each other. Finally the guy picked them up off the floor and shoved them deep into the backpack. He apologized and said he needed them for protection. I was like, um sure, protection. At least it wasn't a gun or knife.

Since then I've never had anyone over to my place. I will go to their hotel or have them come to mine. Im just not comfortable having hires or hook ups come into my home.

I hire when I'm traveling and prefer outcalls to my hotel. I worry about legal issues and police sting operations. Pretty sure that anyone attempting a sting isn't willing to put themselves at risk coming to my hotel.

Of course, once I know someone I'm comfortable visiting them.

Looking at the issue unemotionally I'm sure I'm taking a greater risk inviting strangers into my hotel room but my concern re legal complications outweighs my fear.

What makes you think they weren't purely for self-defense? I may be wrong, but I would think one of the riskier things an escorts does is go into a stranger's home. Yes, you can kind of assume that no client wants a disturbance at their house, but you really never know what's behind those doors.

Having been slammed against a wall, then having a forearm pressed against my throat, followed by a kick in the stomach, and my hand stepped on during one of my first ever hires I guess you could say I was a bit leary of a guy with brass knuckles.

And still that wouldn't save you from it happening again, if one had the will; I guess you haven't implemented dramatic security measures since then.

Ouch! I'm sorry that happened to you. It must have been very traumatic. I've been very fortunate in all of my hiring. The worst thing I've ever encountered is a bad attitude.

There was a benefit. The experience led me to this forum in March 1999. Thus I learned the mistakes I'd made with that particular hire and learned many important lessons here over the years.

Haven't had an experience like that since, knock wood.

I'm curious, do you do this with locals who would host? Maybe not applicable for you?

I've only had 1 instance with a traveling escort (that I knew well) where I went to their hotel. For all other hires, I've always hosted at a hotel (including locals). I'm just not comfortable having sex in someone's personal residence or hosting them at my home.

Oftentimes the escort will use the room for more clients before/after your appointment, and won't charge extra for the room

If I get a room specifically to meet up with someone and I'm going to let them stay solo in it overnight after our appointment, one condition is no other hires. I'd rather not get a visit from LE inquiring why I was aiding and abetting a criminal offence. If our appointment isn't overnight, it becomes a mini-vacation for me. I get to leave the bed unmade and leave towels on the floor without having to pick them up and wash them eventually. Small pleasures.

I know it sounds crazy (and it is) but I am always hesitant about hosting because I think that the person will have some judgment about where I live. Now actually I live in a nice part of town and I have a nice condo but I always think that either they themselves will have a wonderful sea/beach/ocean-side condo and/or he will have done either overnights or week-long engagements in majestic complexes. I generally go ahead and book in my home but I just wanted to express a reason that a client might not host. Then again I might just need therapy. Or both.

I have no problem traveling to or with a client. Basically if I am going to meet a client in a certain city, my rate is my standard overnight rate plus the cost of plane fare to/from that city for that client. I have traveled all over the US and internationally with and for clients...

No additionals, regardless of travel length?

Thanks everyone for the differing responses. I knew this would get everyone thinking! Lots of good (and bad) reasons to host or not host.

That said, I do want to thank the clients who can host...which fortunately enough seems to be many people here on the forum (you know who you all are)

But don't feel singled out if you can't host either. I've earned lots of free nights and I understand sometimes people can't host (or shouldn't in some cases...e.g. The girlfriend coming home in 20 minutes nonsense). Plus there's benefits to me being able to host as I can set the tone and ambience better than if I were at one's place.

That said: the few cities where I always prepare to have a place to host (and rightfully so due to the fact that people ACTUALLY show up) include Washington D.C. and @VictorPowers location in SLC. In some other cities, soon as you tell these brother suckers the hotel address and what time can they come...they come with some last minute lame excuse saying they can't make it.

I am used to having no issue going into a city and getting a hotel for a night or 2...and then extending it as things progressed. But nowadays people fake like they're going to show up and rarely do. Or, their time to even come over is so limited and spaced out, it's become harder to fit in more than 1 or 2 clients in a single night hotel stay.

That's why I say after this year I'm giving up traveling for numbers, because it's just not worth the aggravation anymore. Too much damn aggravation. And though I love the crew at Rentmen, it attracts a bunch of liars. It's almost like there's a mafia sending fake clients from there, because when I call some of these numbers, they have some odd sounding automated voicemail. I rather sit home and if the mother fucker don't show up, I'm not out $89.99 plus tax (and booking it for less thru Priceline doesn't make it any better since their taxes are even higher).

'recharge' is an app that lets you book a hotel room by the minute ... I think they are only in SF and NYC at the moment, but it works like a charm.

Thank you so much for recommending this!

I just tried it for the first time in NYC and it was a GREAT experience... truly perfect, affordable, and easy to use! Wow!

Pick the towels up off the floor. The maids will appreciate it along with a generous tip left on the bed.

Off topic I know ....

Allowing an escort to keep a room that you rent (using your own name - as most hotels require identification) your kind gesture might come back as a negative surprise to you.

Not long ago I let an escort keep a hotel room that I rented for our meeting.

What a surprise I got when I received my credit card bill.

After I left the room, the escort ordered room service (expensive meals along with a lot of liquor) and he emptied the mini bar. Those "incidental charges" were more than twice the cost of the escort and the cost of the room combined.

Never again.

Exact thing happens to me too, along with a hefty charge for room cleaning due to smoking

First of all, thank you for sharing such a personal story.

I hate you engage in Monday quarterbacking... but unless you knew him for a long time you were pretty naïve.

Did you review him?
