I saw in one report that 20 bottles of steroids were found in the house. I just don't get it, is it really worth dying to look like this? Also I'm not a muscle freak so the look does nothing for me and would actually be a negative to me in seeing a guy built freakishly like this.

It's human nature to want immediately what we're not willing to wait to achieve.

And it's gotten so much worse with Millennials: I call it the 'Veruca Salt Syndrome.'

A lot of people seem to be under the delusion that there's no such thing as too big. If you are 100 lbs over your normal weight, the fact it's all muscle doesn't negate the fact it's a tremendous strain on your organs. Lifting doesn't make your liver, or kidneys, or pancreas, bigger to deal with the extra throughput.

I have a friend who's trying to put on size and wants to be 180 lbs. The kid is like 5'2". I try to explain to him that is simply unhealthy for his size but he's not hearing it.

I think one would wait a very very very long time to achieve results that are so completely unnatural. Your body just won't do it for the reasons mentioned above -- organ failure. We're not surprised when a 300lb out-of-shape man suddenly drops dead of heart failure, and I thought it was a given that these extreme bodybuilders had no level of cardio fitness.

That said...it was his life. I'm sure he knew the risks. If you look on YouTube today you'll see all kinds of memorials and videos about other extreme bodybuilders who have died suddenly.

It's body dysmorphia coupled with doing something that is inherently unhealthy.

Muscle can be beautiful, but it doesn't always equal a healthy body. Many of these kinds of extreme looks are from steroids, filler injections, synthol, etc.

Body dysmorphia was my first thought too. It must be an awful struggle when you've got people out there admiring you because "you can never be too big." It's not a huge stretch to compare this to the websites that are set up by anorexics to share their "success."

This is true, however...

I know several pro body builders. It's not a matter of waiting, sadly that look is only achieved by steroid use plus supplements that are very hard on internal organs, and it's a never ending cycle to stay on top. Unfortunately the number of pro athletes who juice, do so because they are competing at an extraordinary level where their competitors are doing the same thing. Everyone knows the game and the consequences, and they still make those choices, but it's their life. When I was young, I considered it, and then I went and consulted a doctor. I made the choice to build myself up only as far as I could naturally. That was my decision, but I never judged my friends for taking a different path.

I went to their competitions, I applauded them, cheered them on, and supported them with friendship. I remember my friend, much younger than I at the time, made a comment about me out living him. It's hard to hear people talk like that, but as you said, "...it was his life. I'm sure he knew the risks."

It's sad that Rich Piana has left loved ones behind, and that he has left this world sooner than he should have. We can speculate on the cause of his death, but I would surmise that he was pushing the envelope in more ways than one.

I hope he goes in peace...

Agreed: ~"Nu Elck Sun Sin"~ (to each his own)

Saddens me somehow though... in my personal ring of deceased friends: 15+ deaths due to steroids~

I was tempted to start using them back in 2006 but my friend, (and producer), strongly urged against it due to the risks of death and health concerns later in life~

I followed his advice and stayed clear of steroids~

I've always been PnP free~ For a time I smoked cigarettes and drank alcohol... I do neither now for over five years with smoking and three years with drinking~ (I have an occasional adult frosty beverage with Clients but, never a "get drunk" sort of thing~

The "death by drugs" list, (coke, meth, alcohol, heroin, script drugs like Vicodin & oxy, cigarettes, etc.), is quite long too... not just in the porn/adult industry/escort field but, the medical & corprate fields as well, (I've been in all three).

The deaths ranged from accidental to intentional~

So... "En Elck Syn Sin" but, watching it all happen is uncomfortable and not so fun~

Rest peacefully buddies~✌️

I don't understand many of the decisions people make with regard to their lives, but in the end, it was his life to live.

May he pass in peace...
