I've noticed that more escorts are showing up in local searches who turn out to be from other cities but list mine as "near travel." An NYC escort listing in DC strikes me as a stretch. Doesn't "near travel" mean the client will need to pay for the escort to travel to him?

Good question

San Francisco escorts will list Oakland, San Jose, and even Sacramento. And, all the vice versas.

I dont know if they're expecting travel compensation.... but ironically, even escorts who list that, respond with bridge and tunnel horror at the prospect of leaving SF.

Traffic... talking about it, avoiding it, planning lives around it, is a major force in many regions. In the past month, Ive been declined by three escorts, proclaiming "it could take me two hours to get there in traffic!"

So, as with other advertised details... I'm not putting much stock in near travel indications.

I hate that feature.

Most guys advertising in Milwaukee are really in Chicago and, thus, not really local. I wouldn't expect them to come to Milwaukee for one client without either (1) some travel compensation or (2) a long session like an overnight.

Could it be that the 'scort is obliquely suggesting to potential clients that the distance is small enough that the client could consider doing the travel?

My finances have been challenged enough for the past ten years due to a penurious parent that I've only hired two guys, and eagerly travelled 50 miles each way to engage one of them for an hour of his time ...

I always considered "Near Travel" in terms of time, in lieu of distance. If they are "Near" then they are willing to travel to that area.

In many areas, like South Florida, Wilton Manors is part of Fort Lauderdale metro area, as is Oakland Park, and depending on where in Fort Lauderdale, so is Deerfield Beach or parts of Miami. With the limited number of cities to list, I just picture that if the provider is listing it, then travel is not an extra they expect to be compensated for.

But I've seen some guys list Tampa, Orlando and Fort Lauderdale as "Near Travel".

As a client, I have too much respect of their time to have them drive 5 or 6 hours of driving each way for one session. I would feel that it needs to be worth his time and I would feel selfish.

I realize it is my issue. But, I haven't been able to rationalize such a request.

I thought it meant that the provider was planning to visit the listed city(s) in the near future.

Me too. I thought it was a way of gauging interest before actually making the trip. Since it isn't really clear, I assume it means different things to different providers as well, but sometimes it's obvious. If they're in LA and have NYC listed as near travel, you know they are planning a trip and not offering an outcall. :)

I wonder if there is a setting that changes something from "Near Travel" to "I am traveling to", because I've seen both wording and I am now wondering what changes it. o_O

this brings to mind one of my pet peeves about masseurfinder. I have it set to show escorts within 100 miles of Detroit, and it shows the guys in Cleveland - which is 100 miles away as the crow flies, but since I don't have a plane or boat to cross over Lake Erie, driving distance is closer to 200 miles from Detroit.

I think "Near travel" locations are listed under "I am traveling to" to indicate the escort is willing to travel to that location without special consideration. I think this is a distinct type of travel not related to travel plans where they are staying in another city.

For example MANISH on RM has both in his ad right now. His home location is Philly.

I am traveling to:

Near travel Wilmington, DE

Near travel Atlantic city, NJ

Jul 16 - Jul 17 Washington, DC
