Has that generalization effected your life in a negative way?

No. In fact, I almost never hold a grudge. I spoke up today because I have not away been fair about @bostonman's post in the Comedy & Tragedy Forum. I wanted to support his comments about dogs.

I've had both dogs and cats all my life (well, except when I was in college living in a dorm). I love both for their own very different reasons. Early in our marriage my wife and I had an Australian Shepherd and a Russian Blue, both very smart breeds. Our eldest was a baby so we left our bedroom door open to hear if he cried, and whenever we had sex we'd inevitably discover the dog at the foot of the bed and the cat on the dresser, watching us. We suspected that they'd each go find the other and come in together for the show.

No dog at the moment, our elderly Lab mix passed away last year (very traumatic for all, the boys had grown up with her), but two cats, a big Domestic Shorthair male who is extremely sociable, he meets us at the door whenever we come home, and another Russian Blue female who we call our personal assistant since whatever we're doing she has to "help" by inspecting everything.

So this is literally a pet peeve: I like dogs and cats, but I really don't like them around when I'm having sex. I find them very much a distraction. And some pet owners are so enamored with and used to their critters that can't take a polite hint to move the pets to another room.

William - I appreciate the gesture - I truly do. But don't sweat it. It never occurred to me that "you haven't always been fair" - and I don't want you to feel the need to hold onto worries like that. Everything's fine on my end. I enjoy our banter. Let's have more. :D:D

My main reason for posting is our agreement about dogs. Yes, I also wanted to address the Comedy & Tragedy Forum, but it was a secondary issue for me.

A number of yours ago, I hired an escort who was also active on this forum. After we were finished with the sexual part of the appt, he invited his dog to join us in bed. I love dogs and I didn't mind at all, but I know some clients would not like it, so in my review I mentioned the incident in case a potential client might be uncomfortable with that. The escort was furious with me for it, for reasons I didn't understand, and we had a very frosty relationship here for some time afterward.

I think that many of us who are ardent pet lovers sometimes tend to forget that not everyone will feel the same. With the result that some people - certainly not all, but some - will expect that their pet always gets the attention it's used to. I think the least that an escort can do (or anyone that works out of their home, whatever the service) is let their clients know ahead of time that, as in this case, "my dog can be very friendly especially after we're done" in case that's not something the guest would want. I think you did exactly the right thing by mentioning the incident in your review.

As a vocal coach who does tend to have singers working at my apartment at times, I do make sure that if my cat gets in the way, I put her in another room. The first time she tries to jump on the piano, or something similarly distracting, might be cute and fun, and that's fine. But if she continues to be disruptive, even in an innocent way, out she goes, so that we can get our work done. Or, certainly, if I sense someone isn't comfortable with a cat roaming around (and some people just don't like cats - so be it), I make sure my guest's needs come first.

And yes, I think even a post-coital situation like you mention should be something ok'd by the client. (I can imagine that some clients would be uncomfortable but way too polite to say anything - which might lead to a less-than-desirable ending to the session in the client's mind.) if the dog, say, is around when the client comes in, and it's clear that the client is comfortable with dogs, that's all well and good. But I do think the escort should make sure the dog's presence is ok, and even say "he's been known to jump up on the bed if invited - so let me know if you don't feel comfortable with that." Or something.

But - of course, in the heat of the moment, there are so many unexpected factors that don't get considered - and so many things that could become a problem. If, for instance, an escort wanted to "light up" after sex, I tend to think it's at least partially my fault that I didn't ask if he smoked. Same with using poppers (a huge turnoff to me). And on and on.

But, yes, it's a shame that this particular escort seems to have taken offense to your comment.

Met with an escort whose dogs were running loose around the bed clearly wanting to get on it. They were whining as well. I should have said something but was new to hiring. One of the worst hire I've ever had.
