The site was perfectly accurate for the north side of Chicago. No cheap gas anywhere or even anywhere near!

Interesting map.

(It's based on Google maps, of course.)

I just filled up today and paid exactly what they show for the station I used. I didn't shop around, because I was running on fumes. But I lucked into the best price in the neighborhood (as I discovered later in the day and as this map shows).

Oddly, it's a station that normally runs several cents/gallon higher than nearby stations.

They've got some REALLY good data collection going on.

Actually, I tried that before. Unfortunately, I lit my ass hairs on fire trying to get some "mileage" out of the gas. :7

Not sure I'll try that again. Plus, it's much harder now to "flick my Bic" with only one finger. :+

Berry Interresting

I go bike riding around my area, about a 10 square mile radius, and I also have some foreknowledge of which stations tend to be less expensive, however most of you probably would not be helped by this. However, a client of mine who is a traveling salesman with a fairly large (multi-state market) swears by this particular site:

I tried to use the map, but unfortunately it does not cover the area where I live (the Coachella Valley/Palm Springs metro area), where we have some of the most expensive gas in America.

You sure do. When I was in Palm Springs a couple weeks ago, every station I saw was running a good $.20/gal higher than even LA prices. (But I didn't see $3/gal, which is happening in Malibu.)

Oddly enough, I gassed up on my way out of town at a station near the airport entrance and it was *less* than what I'd been seeing around town. That's exactly the opposite of what I'd expect. Airport-located stations normally soak the rental car returns for as much as they can get.
