It seems an unusually large contingency don't want to show their faces when they advertise. What is the reasoning behind this?

 

I also wonder where those who are of Mediterranean decent are really from?

My impression is that many/most Asian cultures still have considerable stigma or worse attached to being gay, and the escorts are probably trying to minimize the possibility of friends/family/acquaintances finding out.

 

As for those of Mediterranean descent, from those I've met and those about whom others have supplied detail, they come from any of the nations bordering the Mediterranean or even others that are just close (such as Jordan or even farther east) and some are of mixed descent. My impression is that the term is used for different reasons, for some it's because they're of mixed descent, for others to avoid knee jerk politically based reactions to their ethnicity and encouraging clients to decided based more on their looks and services.

"Mediteranean" is also inclusive, so it simplifies communication. Instead of saying, "Oh yeah, I go for Spaniards, Italians, Turks, Lebanese, Greeks, etc.," one word covers them all.

Turks usually call themselves Central Asians and they don't like to be called Middle Eastern, just like Iranians/Persians.

 

Some folks in this country still don't consider Italians, Spaniards, Portuguese and Greeks as white, only Aryans and Nordic deserve that honor, LOL. The Irish were recently added to the list of white folks despite being Celtic.
