Hey, in a thread a few months ago, Juan/Vancouver noted that he's discovered that "uninhibited" has become a synonym for barebacking among some gays. I've noticed a huge increase in the term in profiles on male hookup sites.

Any comments?

Btw, if this is true, escorts would be well advised to avoid using the term (unless they want to send that message, of course).

If it has already been brought up, then what do you have to add? This subject has been discussed ad nauseum. It seems to me that bringing it up yet again on a whim is just an invitation to do some useless hand-wringing.

Chill dude. My search did NOT turn up topics "ad nauseum."

Finally, Lucky, while I usually enjoy your posts here, in this case as always, my post was meant for those who don't spend all day here throwing bombs. Jesus dude, get a life. x(

Yes, that's exactly what it means. But I think it was Steven Draker who mentioned finding out about it when he, not knowing the meaning, used the phrase in one of his ads.

Nope, sorry Deej, it wasn't me. And I have a very good memory, believe me.

On a side note and for the record I have never engaged nor I will engage in any unprotected activity.

Thanks for your time.

I could swear it was you, but it must have been Juan.

Gosh, if I can't tell you two apart we should put you in the same room for comparison and I'd ....

I take respectful exception to Uninhibited being a code word for barebacking. It simply goes further than that. Uninhibited is a state of mind. It speaks to one's ability to enjoy without hang ups, a variety of sexual activities (yes, BB may be part of it)that goes beyond the traditional fuck, suck vanilla sex. One who is uninhibited in his sexual activities may not necessarily engage in unsafe sexual activities...(I'm a case in point for this)To infer that the word "uninhibited" in any one ad indicates that the person is engaging in irresponsible, unsafe sex, is simply missing the bigger picture.

What is hapenning to the language?

Thats the whole point of the original thread:

How internet language has been using and misusing english language and transforming it into something dangerous for those ones not acustomed to the "net" talk.

As a ESL, a new english speaker, a passionate vibrant latino proud of having very little inhibitions, I posted in one of my first ads that I was "Passionate and uninhibited".

Much to my surprise, I began to be bombarded with requests to all sorts of barebacking extravaganzas and I was about to abandon escorting thinking that people were all sick... until a kind soul told me what uninhibited meant (at least for them, wholehearted barebackers.)

It only took changing that word, and I haven't heard that kind of request in a long time.

Yes... I long for the times when unprotected sex was... just that! Unprotected sex.

A tea bag was that... not two testicles inside a mouth.

Greek was a man born in greece.... not anal sex.

And so on...

I barely speak english... and now I have to re-learn it!

Who said that one doesn't have to study to engage in this profession?

Juan, excellent reply. I laughed, I smiled, I symphatized.

I especially liked the reference to tea bag; that's a new one for me.

Juan, if you "barely" speak English, what am to think of half the posters here? LOL Your command of English (ESL or not) is GREAT!!! :)

IMO, "uninhibited" is code language for many for barebacking activities, but for some it has the broader (or narrower) connotation of wild behaviour excluding, however, unsafe activities. Of course, one can get into a whole debate about what constitutes "unsafe" activities. As Deej is wont to say from time to time, there is no "safe" sex, only "safer" sex.

In sum, if you run across the expression and you need to know, it's best to ask in advance.

Of course it's possible, but we're talking about language, code-words and assumed meanings in online profiles.

"Uninhibited" has most definitely acquired a meaning, as did "Blue Hanky Right" at one point in time. :p

Eating out meant going to a restaurant, topping was done by Betty Crocker, and party was where Leslie Gore had a right to cry.

Why would you think that wanting to "bareback" means people are "sick"?

In a recent thread, didn't you state that in a civilized society each adult should be allowed to decide what is good or bad for himself, provided he does not cross the "personal boundaries" of other people by doing so? Doesn't that apply to having sex without a condom? Or does it only apply to things YOU think people should do?
