I'm starting to plan my first ever working trip to D.C. Im planning for a few days mid-week the second week of April. I'm hoping some of you have some hotel recommendations as well as whether mid-week is a good time to take sessions there, versus the weekend. I know that hotels are notoriously pricey there, but if I can get something for around $200/night, that would be ideal. Thanks!

In/near DuPont...

- Hotel Palomar

- Churchill

- Hilton on Connecticut Ave

- DuPont Circle Hotel

Moving away from DuPont...

- Omni Shorum

- Marriott Wardman Park

There are hotels everywhere. Even some you wouldn't think were hotels. Also look at hotels in the Chevy Chase or Bethesda area.

PM @tristanbaldwin or @ajirons09 they travel to the area frequently.

Hotel Palomar (usually solid deals on Hotels Tonight)

Kimpton properties are also plentiful and great in the area.

I've had a lot more luck during the week than on weekends, but D.C. has been very successful for me in the past on the whole. (On the hole, a bit rougher)

I was looking at the Omni shorum, as it's only about $180 and seems well reviewed. Also, for the sake of discretion I tend to prefer bigger hotels. So, it's a pretty decent one?

just to clear it up, it's Omni Shoreham, not Shorum

834 rooms.....big and anonymous!

Hehe, yeah, noticed that after I replied. I'm also looking at the Marriott Wardman Park. I found an amazing deal, $128/night. Only drawback is that it may be double beds, not ideal, but may be worth it for half price.

Lance it's a great hotel, very large well appointed a short walk to some wonderful restaurants, in particular Lebanese TAVERNA, parking for your guests is a bit pricey but there is a neighborhood parking a short walk away. I think you'd enjoy it

Meaning the Shoreham

And I second the plug for Lebanese Taverna!

The rate at the Marriott was just too good to pass up, so I just pulled the trigger. I haven't even booked my flights, but I guess my dates are now pretty set. Looking forward to what I hope will be a really wonderful trip. Thanks everyone for their help and additional dining recommendations are always appreciated. I'll definitely look into Taverna!

The Wardman is a bit more accessible than the Shoreham as it is closer to Metro and to restaurants. Both are huge--the Wardman is positively sprawling and its easy to get confused inside the hotel. Until recently, it was the largest convention hotel in the DC area. The Shoreham was built as a residential hotel and has a more straightforward layout.

Mama Ayesha's on Calvert is much better than Lebanese Taverna. It draws locals whereas most of the restaurants near these hotels rely on the tourist trade and are forgettable, although Open City (corner of Calvert & 24th) is good for breakfast. The Adams-Morgan neighborhood is a 10-15 minute walk and has a wide range of restaurants.

Be careful about suggesting that people park on the street--DC once was quite uniform in its parking regulations but now they vary tremendously by neighborhood. Do not assume plentiful street parking---normally, 2 hours is the limit during the day and the time when this ends varies widely. And there is plenty of enforcement.

Yes, I should've said you have to read the signs carefully

Marriott Wardman park is my pick above Omni, any day of the week...even if it has half a lower star level.

Those prices you got weren't exactly the gentlest....I wouldn't use the option to pick the specific hotel, where you are essentially paying Rack Rate. If you use Priceline's Express Deals and select Dupont Circle / Woodley Park, 4* hotels can be had for 70-90 depending on the week you're there....it can be very hit or miss. Marriott Wardman Park has a phenomenal gym and lots of fairly priced restaurants nearby. Much more accessible than the others...except for a nice walk up the hill! LOL. Dupont Circle Hotel very accessible as well.

I have had reason to visit both the Omni and the Marriott... and NOT for that!!! Though given my job at the time it did involve an S&M component! :D. Definitely the Marriott, plus its convenient to the Metro Stop... and as long as the escalator is in service at the metro your good to go! I walked up it once!!!! But don't worry it will be!

Plus you can be at DuPont Circle in minutes... trust Tristan he not only has been around the block, and multiple times, but he built the block and probably that escalator as well!

Thanks guys. The rack rate at the Marriott was around $250 and I got it for $128. I guess it's possible it could have dropped but I didn't want to take the gamble. I'm happy with the rate and extremely happy to hear everyone's support for that hotel. Now just fingers crossed that they will give me a king bed instead of doubles.

They have multiple towers...the older tower has larger rooms but thinner walls, in case you're wrestling/dominating/loud sessions, FYI. Truly a great hotel- but wanna hear my most unique experience there? 3 day stint in DC- first day, Obama decided to host the Vietnamese state visit to the US there, so secret service had a clipboard with all the guests names....anyone not on that list wasn't getting in, so that affected business. Second day...boy scouts of america conference....and they had chaperones in the hallway on my floor....so a late night screamer session was out, affected business there too. Third day..I come back from breakfast to find a stepladder in my room...I'm like...WTF is this, so I call engineering to ask them if they left a ladder in my room. The hotels response- "We didn't know if you were with the conference..". Later in the day I understood- the National Association of Little People was there- all the restaurants lowered their tables and they put stepladders next to each bed in every room. Midgets everywhere....it was so cute but so inspiring too, to see everyone having such a good time. Drunk as SKUNKS.

And no, unfortunately, I didn't wind up with any little person clients, so I could check that off my bucket list...

LOL. I once went to an incall there and the lobby was packed with Southern ladies of a certain age with big hair. After a very, um, vigorous session the escort and I went down to the bar for a drink and the belles were there, boozing it up. They were friendly and happy and loud. No idea what the group was, and they had no idea what we'd just been doing upstairs.
