all this Mary Tyler Moore et al stuff - and @actor61 's lament a couple days ago about how bad TV has become - has me reminiscing about how great TV was back in my youth (late 60s to early 80s).....looking at the TV listings I posted in the MTM thread made me go look up the theme songs for some of them and others.....campy at times, but usually some talent....some good ones I found.....

Sunday Mystery Movie - haunting, catchy theme.....really like this:

before my time, but great music:

hadn't heard this in decades:

Eight is Enough was a proper meme for the gay community.

I imagine Grant Goodeve fucked Willie Aames so hard the boy turned to Jesus. That's my explanation for it, anyway.

The first two seasons of this one in 1974-76 were great, thanks to some of the same writers as the earlier STAR TREK. Only the third season was downright silly. Richard Chamberlain's younger boyfriend was on this one.

I read on a gay blog that you know you are heterosexual if you favor I DREAM OF JEANNIE over BEWITCHED. Those who are more flexible in their "orientation" are obviously BEWITCHED fans.

I think one of the reasons most of the syndicated re-broadcasts and DVDs sport only three copyright dates on their title cards ('64, '66 and '69) is because of the Chevrolet sponsorship announcements on so many others.

thanks @longtime lurker for that Land Of The Lost intro....watched it all the time and hadn't heard that theme since....man, those superimposed raft graphics are really primitive!.....

Did not know that he was dead --- Did he ever do anything after MANNIX? I seem

to Remember a GOLDEN GIRLS Episode - but that is it!

Then again - who did not do a GOLDEN GIRLS episode -- In fact I think I was in a episode

where I tried to get Dorothy to put Mario Lopez out on the street to pay for the new toilet

that the girls needed installed.

You've all been remiss.

Kevin Slater

A tidbit of trivia: Reza Badiyi created the title sequence of "Hawaii 5-0." He also created the title sequence that was used for the first three seasons of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show."

I loved the theme from Dynasty and Hill Street Blues. I was taking Piano lessons when those shows were on and my piano teacher assigned me those theme songs since they were so popular then. She also assigned me Chariot of Fires.

One theme song I always liked from the 80s as well was St. Elsewhere

What a great walk down memory lane. I haven't thought of some of these shows in decades. (But I always rewatch Willy Wonka every few years. I love Gene Wilder in that role.) Here's another theme song from the era.

by the way, for those who don't know, the house in "Dynasty" (exterior aerials) is Filoli in Woodside, CA, open to the public for a fee....
