In the past I have bought a prepaid money card from AAA or some other bank but told the guy what I was doing so there was trust there it worked for us

There's always Travelers Checks. Also prepaid credit cards.

You could use the US Post Office to send money to your destination. Just have the hotel "hold for arrival."

 

Years ago I knew two escorts from Canada that use to dance at the beloved Gaiety. They were earning better than $10,000 each for their week there. They did not want to take that money back to Canada through Canadian customs so they had a trusted friend mail them the funds in registered or certified envelopes in batches of $4 or $5 thousand at a time.

I traveled with $2,000 to Vegas this last trip. I was super paranoid and kept the cash with me at all times. Thankfully once I checked into the hotel, my room had a safe so I kept $1,500 locked in there. I felt much better knowing it was finally secure.

I'm super paranoid about traveling with it too. Once at my destination, it's in the safe in my room as well.

$3500-$4000 won't raise any questions. There are still wealthy, old school people who regularly carry near this much as "walking around money."
