Adopting a child is an amazing act of kindness and selflessness.

My wife and I didn't consider it that way. We didn't want to have just one child and it wasn't happening (three miscarriages). As a result we had three first children!:);):D Loved it when someone said of adopted son or daughter, "She/he looks just like you!"

I'm happy for the kids. But is it me or is there something a little exploitative about those photos?

Dawwwww they look so happy, I'm glad for them. More people need to adopt if they are in a position to.

It's difficult to adopt infants today because so few are available. Beautiful blonde girls like the #3 pic are nearly impossible to adopt.

Sure, babies and infants are difficult to adopt, particularly beautiful blonde ones, they're a "high commodity"! but there are even more kids outside the infant age bracket that desperately need a stable, safe and loving home. Yes, it makes sense to adopt within our own ethnicities, and yes it makes sense to get them when they are really young so that they can adjust easier to the family unit with few emotional issues relating to abandonment, and raising them would be easier if they didn't have physical or learning disabilities etc....but should we only be seeking "beautiful" infants to complete our family unit? If one opens up the criteria beyond "attractive", there are far more kids out there.

As for if the pictures are being exploitative....as far as we can tell they're not being physically or emotionally harmed in anyway, they're helping to promote a cause that is safe to assume is important to them (along with cuddles, cookies and maybe getting a dog or cat in the future), they get to commemorate the happiest day of their life so far.

Post edit: maybe my original comment should actually be "more people in a position to adopt should try fostering."
