Jackhammer I would like to add to your post. We can not forget those who are serving but still at home (thank the higher powers). I have one friend who just returned home from the middle east and can't wait to see him and give him a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE hug. To those who still have friends and family in far off places serving my thoughts are always with you.

Hugs,

Greg

I'll gladly join you in this wish, Jack.

Did you see the kid serving in Iraq who proposed to his girlfriend on the Today show this morning? (She said yes!) I had tears in my eyes.

I'll be cracking open the annual bottle of single-malt in a little bit and you can bet I'll be raising a toast to our men and women in uniform. They're what we should be.

And since you requested the forebearance of the moderators .... I, for one, will delete any post that tries to spin this to politics rather than moving the thread.

Undisputedly True!

But my thoughts and prayers are with those who serve us in uniform and their families.

Hooboy, I agree war is good for nothing.

On the other hand in all the years I have been around there has never been a time there were not SEVERAL wars going on somewhere in the world.

All I can do is my small part to stay peaceful.

Jackhammer,

Most definitely will join you in your prayers and well wishes :

My family and I (a long time ago) would pray for our family who were cops and in the Army, with a prayer to St. Michael the Archangel...the whole prayer is a bit long so I will cut it to "St. Michael, defend us"

I ask the forbearance of the moderators, and ANY posters who will reply to this.

I wish to avoid ANY discussion of politics or religion, so that more people may see this and offer a moment.

My simple wish is to say a silent prayer to whatever higher power you may believe in. Each person who may read this, please take a moment to remember our boys and girls in foreign lands for their health and safety. Please take a moment for their families who live each day under the stress of losing a loved one.

My sincere hope is that our boys and girls will stay safe and that somehow, someway, they will know that they are remembered by grateful fellow citizens of the United States of America.

May God bless all the men and women in our armed forces.

Please, it's not about politics or party philosophies, it's about our sons, daughters, husbands and wives.

Well, some of us are atheists and don't believe in a higher power or pray, but that doesn't mean we don't hope or grieve or care about our fellow man. One doesn't have to be religious to have a good heart.

>Please, it's not about politics or party philosophies, it's

...and partners/lovers/boyfriends, etc. Don't forget about gay soldiers who don't yet have the legal right to have same-sex husbands or wives. They're there fighting, too!

Please note, I'm not criticizing your thoughtful, well-meaning post; just trying to clarify and make it more inclusive. :)

I very often find myself agreeing with you, Hooboy...

But I couldnt agree more with you in this one.

If there was not a single person in the world who agreed to go to war...

Wouldnt we all live in peace?

I send all my prayers to all of those who (In the states, or in every corner of the world) work to create an awareness of peace. May their work be fruitful and may we soon realize that war only creates more war.

Peace in all our hearts.

Juan
