A coin was a metal piece of currency representing an amount under a dollar, such as a half-dollar, or a quarter dollar. Eventually dollar coins also became available, but the pay phones did not accept them. Most only accepted smaller denominations, such as dimes and nickels, or quarters.

Wonderful definitions for today's youth but I doubt any of us are that young, though I may be wrong! 😆

Me too!! In the 70's men wore tight pants and were always sporting bulges and nobody thought anything of it but I noticed. ;)
