Give him some time. It is possible that he is doing something that requires his attention, like entertaining a client, and he can't get right back to you.

for 24 hours or more.... usually this client let's the guy come up for air... eat ... drink... use the bathroom. where one can take his phone and check messages

that might (?) be your problem......maybe?.....just saying "Steve" or "hey" may not sound sincere or serious......something like "love the look of your ad....would love to meet up....mid-40s, normal guy here into a friendly, fun, safe meeting.....serious here" .....stuff along those lines.....don't text too much, get to the point, be discreet and professional......

On the few occasions I've used text as the initial contact the text reads something like this: "Hey,[name of escort] responding to your [RM or M4RN] ad."

Yeah, always best to give a clue what the intent is all about - "Hey, RM ad, interested here" says a lot in 25 characters or less ... Just sayin'
