question: Not sure if this is ok to ask but would you say it's "safe" as in the privacy context about getting a paid membership on rentmen. I guess with the whole rentboy fiasco it would make me nervous that my name and credit card is on a similar site. Thoughts?

I'm pretty sure that the prosecutors only went after the owner of Rent Boy. Never went after the escorts or clients. Also, Rentmen is based offshore. Rent Boy was based in NYC. Finally, what crime are you committing by joining Rentmen? None. Looking at pictures of hot men isn't a crime. At least not yet.

I'm very hesitant about putting my name, address, and CC # on a escort site. I was thinking about getting a paid membership w/RM, just because I wanted to give one of my favorite RM guy a one time suprised gift, and be able to view the guys private pics on RM. But, I ultimately decided not to do it. I was not comfortable with the payment process. I'm not sure why RM doesn't accept other payment methods such as, bitcoins, and ghost card.

Several recent online searches led me to a company that issued CC for you under whatever name you wish to use (yes, it's legit, been doing busines for years). Perfect solution for guys who want to buy RM membership, or adult contents membership, and wish to stay anonymous.

Yes, it seems different posters here have different levels of comfort (and paranoia). Registering at RentMen is relatively safe and discreet. @JayNY , if big brother is watching he's watching these posts, reviews, RentMen reviews, etc.

You have to gauge your level of comfort. To paraphrase @deej "if you aren't willing to take the risk and pay the price..." then don't hire. Not an exact quote, apologies to @deej

Simply go to CVS or another retail place and buy a loaded VISA, AMEX, whatever, and use it. You're not required to enter anything else that is verified beyond your screen name.

Whether or not it's worth it is an individual decision. I find that having more pictures available enables my pre-hire research to be a bit more thorough.

Also, you may want to simply pass the cost of that membership along to your companion friend in cash - the last time I gave someone a gold membership I found out that it was much more expensive than the fee he would have otherwise paid.

Absolutely. Sometimes by a rather large factor.

I feel quite confident that anything the government (or the private sector for that matter) wants to know about me, they already know. Whenever I purchase a particular product on Amazon, the next day I see ads for similar products on Facebook. There was a joke about wanting to call the NSA, but not having their phone number. Of course, you don't need it--they are already listening.

I have signed up before and had no problem with it. It was great to be able to look at the additional pics and videos without having to wait for the access approval by the escort. If you're not comfortable putting your own info online, go the route of the Visa gift card!

Good to know; I was considering such a present. If I do it I will give cash directly to the fine gentleman.

It is not illegal to hire someone for "massage" "body work" or "company". I suggest you keep your requests of services within the legal definitions and you have nothing to worry about. Yes. Direct requests for sexual acts are regulated by law in most states, so if you are worried, I suggest you keep your conversations "clean".

Based on the Ashley Madison data dump, I wouldn't use a personal CC to pay for membership on that site. Shit happens, I'd rather never have to step in it if I can help it.

This. The issue isn't if the authorities find your name on this list, but your friends, family, employer, etc. For most people simply not worth the risk. If you're retired and no family to speak of(or they're super-laid-back about such things) I suppose you could go for it.

The Feds went after Rentboy because they were involved in getting a visa for an employee, which exposed them for operating a technically illegal business. They also had all their servers, etc. in the US. They made boneheaded moves. Rentmen operates off shore and I assume they are u likely to make similar mistakes.

Anyone that used their credit cards with RB was probably looked at by the government. I know personally some escorts that were hounded a bit by the IRS after the bust. Couldn't prove anything but the Government sent them small business tax forms under their escort names with some soft core threats to pay.

[buzzer] "Count one - Promotion of Prostitution", "Count Two - Money laundering Conspiracy", and "Count Three - Money Laundering" according to Reason.com which has the text of the indictment. Anything else is speculation.
