A friend gifted me with a new vodka - Absolute Oak. It has been aged in oak barrels/casks and has taken in the amber color of whiskey.

Has anybody tasted this yet?

I am a sipper of vodkas rather than mixed drinks and prefer mine over ice or straight from the freezer.

No, but you must try it and tell us how you like it.

This is very coincidental. Earlier today a co-worker and I were chatting and learned that we both prefer sipping liquor (for me, scotch, whiskey, and some vodkas) and for him Absolut Vanilla right out of the freezer is wonderful.

I'm an old sipper: vodka, all the Glens (I'll try Glennnn, too), and really good rum.

Tried the Absolute Oak straight up from the freezer - very interesting taste: definitely vodka taste but smoky/peaty like scotch (Scottish for Glennnn). It was also good over rocks. I don't think it would be good for a mixed drink except possibly, heaven forbid, with coke.

I think it will be an acquired taste but all-in-all not bad.

My favorite sipping vodka is Jean Marc XO - it cannot be beat (beaten or whipped either).

Love sipping a really good Single Malt Scotch Whiskey.

I have enjoyed Cardu, but that was at the distillery in the Grampian hills and several decades ago (and besides the wench is dead.)
