Interesting. I hadn't heard of this sort of thing, and I don't consider myself submissive or into BDSM. But, in several cases, when I was being topped by a strong, skillful guy, I did go into what I thought of as a "fuck trance," a sense of freedom and peace, where I lost all sense of time passing. I realize it doesn't always happen, even if the sex is pleasurable and good. When it does, it's a gradual slide into a different state and I love it. The guy has to have some staying power for it to occur, but beyond that I can't identify other factors that make it happen.

Well I don't know if I would call it meditation, but it certainly relieves stress and it works from both sides of the equation. The closest I can say is that it puts you and your head(s) in a very different space.

 

A few years ago I was going through an extremely stressful period in my life. BDSM is what helped me maintain my sanity. I recall going to the bondage club in NYC and asked one of the noted doms there at the time to do some unspeakable things to me. I won't say what I wanted him to do, but simply say that I needed to have it done and that it worked. In fact I recently mentioned this scenario via PM to a forum member who is going through a stressful period in his life as well.

 

About that same time I had some deep discussions with a now retired escort about this very subject. He discovered that self flagellation was the ultimate stress reliever for him. I concurred.
