Yep it is true! I am a die hard RedSox fan! So I am getting ready to either be very very very excited or I may need to call a local escort for comforting tomorrow night ;-)

I feel as though I am on a roller coaster! Weeeeee here we go again! If you have ever been to a game at Fenway then u would be a fan also. I am sure it is similar at Yankee stadium but I can't start that argument since they have been our nemesis for so long!! It is just amazing how the Redsox do this to us!

Well another late night for me!

As a died-in-the-wool Cubs fan, I can certainly sympathize. Wrigley Field is a pretty neat place to see a ballgame too. I always figured Cubs fans would actually get disappointed if they ever go all the way because they'd miss that last-minute gut-wrenching let-down. ;-)

With that baseball legacy in my past, I'm sure rootin' for the Sox.

Game 7 is off to a good start!

That's great, and as such I hope you get your wish, as every die hard fan of every team in every sport should feel the experience of a World championship. The only thing that irritates me, are all the bandwagon fans, who root for the Sox only because they haven't won a Series since 1918, and as such it is the "in thing to do".

>

>If you have ever been to a game at Fenway then u

I doubt that would be the case for me. I have rooted for the Sox in every Series I have seen them in, but they always find a way to lose it in the 7th game. The Sox have made history with their come back from 3-0 games down, and if their lead holds up tonight, then they will just add to the record books.

Me, I'm rooting for the Cardinals, who won it on a 2 run homer in the bottom of the 12th tonight.

I wouldn't be upset to see a rerun of the 1967 World Series between the Cards and Sox, which yes, the Sox lost in game 7. That was a true classic series, with Bob Gibson pitching against Jim Lonborg and all the great Cardinals and Red Sox players - Curt Flood, Ken Boyer, Carl Yaztremski and Tony Conigliaro (what hottie Italian guy) to name just a few.

Damn, I miss the pure baseball of my youth, where there weren't any division winners or wild cards and the talent wasn't diluted across so many teams. Best record won the league. The AL race was a war that year with Boston, Detroit, New York and Chicago going into the last week of the season in a virtual dead heat.

As a fellow diehard baseball fan (yeah! DC FINALLY gets a team), I wish you luck tonight and in the World Series to come. :7

Okay I will give you that maybe you wouldn't be a fan but it would be an experience, I am sure there are other ball parks such as Wrigley that are awesome also! I went to a Dodgers game and it just wasn't the same the park was tooo nice :-) We sat so high I couldn't even see what was going on. Then I took the same friend to a Fenway game and he was in love.. Okay he isn't a die hard Sox fan but when he was out here he was starting to get caught up saying "Hey they can catch the Yankees".. It was really funny!

Cubs had a chance last year, I still feel bad for that stupid fan who caught the ball! Deej I know you feel my pain! It is 6 to 0 an I am so nervous. I hear you about the bandwagon fans but it is okay as long as they don't put the sox down if they loose that is when the bandwagon fans will get hurt! Best game I ever went to was a regular season Yankee's Sox game it is so exciting and electric but you have to be careful can definitely get violent! I wish I was in the Bronx tonight!

8-1 going into the 5th .... this is frigging unreal.

One of my favorite memories was watching Sammy Sosa become the first member of the 60-60 club. ANY record set at Wrigley, where Babe Ruth once pointed to the outfield and then hit a home run right to that spot, is fun to watch!

As for that Cubs fan, I hear he's relocated:

I am a life long Cardinal fan, who grew up in Boston. I even got to see Mark McGwire's last 5 home runs in '98 in St. Louis as he reached 70 in the last weekend series against Montreal.

If the Cardinals win tomorrow (a big if), I will be rooting for the Cards but a part of me would be happy to finally see the Sox win a World Series. The last time the two teams faced each others (1967), St. Louis had Bob Gibson; this year they an equally great player in Albert Pujols.

An Astro-Red Sox series would be just as exciting considering what a great team Houston has! It's a great time of the year to be a baseball fan and all four teams in the Championship Series have nothing to be ashamed of.

That was so exciting and so nerve wrecking even at 10 to 3! Here we go baby! Now we have to win the big one. If the Redsox win then there will be a ton of 90+ yo's that have nothing left to live for they were just hanging on for it to happen again! My phone has been ringing off the hook, but I refused to answer it until the game was over!

In the words of the infamous Bartles and James commercial - Thanks for your support! And see Redsox fans are classy I have said nothing negative about the Yankees. And on the positive note I think A-Rod and Jeter are HOT! I would love to see them in the locker room together! Sorry I had to go there! It is strange to think the last time they went to the world series I was in my senior yeat in High school!

CONGRATULATIONS SOX! Boston did it! They added new meaning to the term "Boston Marathon" during this season! The Sox made the Sports history books as are the Pat's with their 20 game winning streak. The "curse" must be broken. Go Sox...and win the series!

If Houston wins tonight, it will be the first World Series between two second-best teams, politely called "wildcards". Too bad I put my money on the Yankees over the Cardinals--I was expecting revenge for the 1964 Series, which I remember sadly, since St. Louis stole the penant from my Phillies in the final week, before beating the Yankees in seven games (it took the Yankees a dozen years to recover).

Hey Spida - another Sox fan here...elated and stunned over what we accomplished the last 4 days...and looking forward to another great battle starting this weekend!

I would disagree with you about Jeter - but even I have to admit A-Rod is hot...if only he hadn't resorted to that stupid dirty trick the other night - I lost a lot of respect for him then.

As for me, I'd like to be able to "congratulate" Derek Lowe in person...always have thought he's a cutie, and he sure pitched well last night! Also love both of our Kevins, and I think Jason's pretty hot too...Bellhorn's a cutie as well...

ok, I'll stop now, before someone attacks me for objectifying public figures... ;-)

I don't watch baseball that much, not since they went on strike when I was in little league... But the Sox whupping up on the yanks?

Hell ya! I was watching it on TV down here and went nuts

after that grand slam! I have wanted to see them kick ass since I was 8! (origionally I am from RI so The Sox are like my home-team!)

Now its time for them to wup the cardinals, since the cardinals beat the Astros (Houston's Team)

I'd love to see my hometeam win it in my lifetime! (was hoping it's be the Astros though, cause then it'd been the battle of the underdogs and i'd be happy either way lol)

anyhow, just seen the redsox header and it got my attention.

Hey Christopher (Mr. Long Eyelashes!) I have not seen nor heard from you in a long time. Apparently all is well, since you had Astro fever.

It is unfortunate that Andy Petite couldn't play all year and Roger Clemmons was not able to throw his magic. A great series would have been Clemmons (ex-yankee / ex redsox) pitching against Boston.

However, after this many generations living with "the curse,", I think it is Boston's turn regain their past glory. If for no other reason, to make up for the horrible mess the freeways have been in there since Babe Ruth was traded. :D

I don't want to jinx it, so I'll just say I hope Andy can pitch next year for the Astros.

Well Damn~

If the Red Sox can pull it off, as they did so well in this last game, then maybe my Cubbies can pull a pennant out of their arses next season... I'm not holding my breath though :)

So HB, when you start with the Astros next season, will you be a pitcher or a catcher? *evil grin* Inquiring minds wish to know.

... and now, it's Nassau or BUST!

Warmest Always,

From your mouth to G*d's ear! But never forget the Cubs fan's mantra: wait'll next year. ;-)

(Isn't it about time that damn goat gave up on the curse already!?!?!)

I feel your pain Charlie. Reminds me of the 1979 World Series between the Orioles and Pirates. I lost a bundle on that one, betting on the Orioles, not to mention how much crap I had to eat after gloating when the Orioles went ahead 3 games to 1. I get a sick feeling in the gut everytime I hear Sister Sledge's "We Are Family" on the oldies station! :)

I remember that 1964 World Series, too, (of course I was just a WEE lad :)) and once again I was rooting for the Cardinals, just as I will be in this series. Now, I know 1964 was a loooonnngg time ago, but if I recall correctly, the Cardinals didn't steal the pennant. Didn't the Phillies BLOW a big lead in the last two weeks of the season? And all of that with Jim Bunning pitching and Dick "don't call me Richie" Allen, hitting? x(

I'm so glad that Houston lost to the Cardinals, as they are in the same division, and came in 2nd in the NL Central, 13 games behind St. Louis.

Houston beating the Cardinals would, imo, have really cheapened the season long accomplishments of other teams/players and would have defeated the whole purpose of the regular season games. Their winning would have justified all the rants about wild cards by baseball purists, as they also had a worse W-L record than the Braves and Dodgers who won their divisions.

At least Boston had the 2nd best record in the AL and finished a mere 3 games behind NY, so their ALCS victory didn't cheapen the game in any way, as the two best teams in the AL not only played in the ALCS series, but also played a classic playoff series that will probably never be bested, at least not for a long, long, long time.

I bet Boston will be favored, as once again, all the talk will be about how Boston has a better pitching staff. Of course, the Cardinals were supposed to lose to the Dodgers for that very same reason, but LA is at home watching and St. Louis is in the series, so that reasoning is worth no more than the effort it takes to state it.

Now, after all that ranting GO CARDINALS!!!!! :-)

Well that's 60 straight years that it will be going from the mouths of Cubbies fans to God's ear, just praying for an NL pennant. And 97 straight years begging for a World Series championship. And the Red Sox fans are kvetching?

All the rumors going around, have Sammy Sosa being dealt away this off-season. If that happens, I seriously doubt there would be any realistic hope for the Cubs next season.

>(Isn't it about time that damn goat gave up on the curse

Isn't that goat story just a myth, and a feeble attempt as such, to jump onto the BoSox curse bandwagon?

I'm not so sure either way. I suspect the bloom is off the rose in trade value (age, injuries, performance, bat corking ;-)....) PLUS I hear he's majorly pussy whipped and his wife is COMFY in their fancy multi-million dollar Chicago home.

>Isn't that goat story just a myth, and a feeble attempt as

There's some urban legend that's grown up around the story, but the basics are actually true.

OK, you would have to rub it in. Yes, the Phillies choked, after leading the NL for the entire season. Of course, if I had known then what a prick Bunning would turn out to be once he exploited his reputation to gain political office, I probably would have been pleased that he never got to play in a World Series.
