I don't think I would ask for such a pic unless I were proposing a solid plan to meet - otherwise I just come off as a picture collector.

I've only made about 4 or 5 asks for photos, DC, NYC and CHI dudes, and have never been told no. (Had one guy simply not respond.) I don't ask until we've texted on availability, etc. I also don't hire unless we've had a brief (3-5 min) convo before, and ask them to send it just before the call. (The request for a call does occasionally put a guy off, but I don't think I want a guy who sounds like Harvey Fierstein). Maybe I'm lucky (or over-vet), but I've never had a problem.

Imma speak for myself as a hooker. If someone asks for a specific G rated selfie I will do my best to do so. Really, how long does it takee to do a selfie and send it? You as clients are spending serious cash, anywhere from $150-300 an hour depending on what part if the country you are in. I feel you are entitled to make sure within reason you are getting whats advertised. So, how many fingers do I need to hold up? Cause I got my phone in hand.

But what if the person asking for the “3-fingered selfie” is actually a fake escort/scam artist rather than a real client? He could then steal the escort’s photos and misuse the selfie to “authenticate” his identity in the future. It might sound far-fetched, but some people will go to amazing lengths to get money without having to work for it. Good points. I consider a "3-fingered selfie" a euphemism for my specific method of asking for a selfie. I ask for a pic with today's date with my client name on it. It is that simple yet specific and hard for pic stealers to get any benefit from it. I only request it from new guys to me. Guys with established reps are a totally different deal.

 

By the way, If anyone hesitates, I offer them my own client references - I have several regulars (escorts) who will vouch for me with new escorts. it is totally normal for an escort to think you are playing games, so the minute I offer my references, their fears lessen - some check my references, some just send me the selfie. Some decline and I politely thank them for their time and tell them that if they change their mind to hit me up.

 

I go thru all these extremes bc fakery is sooooooo out of control these days, selfies are so easy, and websites don't care or don't know how to prevent this fraud.

I don't want to make assumptions as how often this happens to you, but would you feel the same if you received 30, 40 different daily requests from "clients" wanting to find their own personal technique to weed out a flake?

 

Would you have that much time in your life?

 

Would you still think it doesn't take too long?

 

I personally think it is a slippery slope. Once you give into a personal whim of someone who in the end is not likely to hire you, you will be hard pressed to say no to every single future request. I much rather build a reputation, carefully maintain my brand and happily deal with those men who are aware of it and are excited to spend time with me.

I have never asked anyone for one though I tend to gravitate to those who have some longevity and "brand" (whether they know it or not), to Juan's point, and so don't need one.

 

Example: DanRussian was broadly recommended here plus has professional videos available so it would be silly to ask for one. This profile, on the other hand, would suggest a verified face pic would be prudent
