It's a solid three-star movie. Gus Van Sant or Larry Clark could have done so much more with it.

Kevin Slater

Couldnt agree more-Slater excellent in it tho I thought...... (Christian, not you!)

I'm sure you'll have a great discussion with him because he's gay-just not physically gay.

I interpreted his statements as he does everything short of fucking. I know plenty of gay guys who avoid fucking for one reason or another.

Most 'famous' people aside from porn stars don't really specify their individual sex practices. Let's take Anderson Cooper. He's revealed he's gay. But while I've heard what can only be counted as rumors that he's a non-versatile top, I don't believe he's ever actually specified. If Franco actually was into gay sex-whether that included fucking or not-I think he would have said, "I'm gay," without the qualification of "except for ...."

I think it's an overly optimistic interpretation to think he is actually gay in much the same way 'we' repeatedly say certain handsome straight athletes, models, and actors must really be gay. We're occasionally right but probably not the majority of the time.

On the other hand since I don't actually know James, your interpretation may be perfectly correct.

His words were "I'm gay in my life up until the point of intercourse." Sounded to me like one of those "technical virgins" running around the Bible Belt.

whether he is into it or not is absolutely no reason for him to say it-you think every gay Hollywood star would say" I'm gay??

I took it to mean he was a supporter. But unless he says something else and clarifies, or one of us gets into his bedroom, we will never know.

Some of us may know more than you think..............! (can only leave you with that thought, not at liberty to disclose more, but its hardly a stretch....)

I too have reason to believe he's more than just a "supporter". Sexuality is still tricky in the entertainment biz, contrary to all the open mindedness there.

there's not a publisher who will touch his book. he's said he is going to self publish.

Self-publishing is a valid way for writers to make more money these days. Many professional writers are going this route. Not finding a publisher is not a sign that Corrigan's story is worthless, although an audience for it may be limited. If Corrigan hires a good freelance editor, and the book garners good reviews, Corrigan could do much better financially by self-publishing.

It's a solid three-star movie.

Perhaps that's being a bit generous. I thought the film was pretty lame, so it gets 2-stars from me. Franco does have a track record for turkeys.

It's a fascinating story, one I was not aware of, but the film was too cheap, sloppy, and passionless. There were characters here that deserved more development. Instead, we're served a lot of stereotype and ridiculously fake sex scenes. It tries hard to arouse, often too hard. Considering the film was about the porn sex industry, there was not 1 minute of sexual turn-on for me.

I'm not sure how anyone could tell this story and make it a successful mainstream motion picture without putting serious money behind it. How much money would anyone be willing to sink into a project like this with absolutely no guarantees that a return on investment would ever be realized? Maybe, if a famous director with indie credentials wanted to tell this story, it stood a chance. Franco was clearly not the guy.

I think I'd rather read Brent Corrigan's version of events.
