I never send out a photo. The few times they ask I come to the conclussion that either he is an amateur or he is with some law enforcement agency.

I am not sure how common it is, but I also wouldn't be all that concerned about it, either. Since you said you are having him travel to you, then you evidently don't live near each other, so what's the harm in him seeing a pic of you? If you lived in the same city, then I could see your initial apprehension. But, he isn't going to run into you on the street if you live far apart.

 

I also wouldn't worry about law enforcement. I assume you either wrote him an email message or called him on the phone, right? Therefore, there is already some kind of record of you being in contact with him anyway.

 

Some escorts like to see a pic of their potential client before they meet them. Especially for an overnight. I, personally, don't ask clients for pics before meeting, but several have sent them voluntarily anyway, and I have felt more at ease when they have. Not because I am all that concerned about what their physical appearance is, but because it just helps to have a face to go along with the email or voice on the phone before meeting them. Especially if I have to jump on a plane and fly across the country to meet him. I never meet anyone for an overnight without at least speaking with them a couple of times on the phone before hand.

 

So, if I were you, I would tell him of your reluctance to send him a pic and see what he says. If he is insistent of seeing your pic and refuses to meet you without one, then I guess you have a choice to make. If he seems like a nice guy and you really want to meet him, then I say go ahead. If you have some other reservations, then definitely don't see him. Especially for an overnight. I think hiring an escort you have never met, and who doesn't have any reviews on this website, is a lot more risky than sending him a pic.

It is not that uncommon with younger escorts who are just starting and really aren't "pros."

 

In fact if you go to Craiglists, almost every twink on there that is fishing for business will write "Send contact info with photo and I will reply with my photos, rates, and contact info."

 

I have asked some of them why they want a pic... and the reasons have been varied...

 

1) It's scary to have to travel somewhere and not know what the guy looks like.

 

2) It is weird that the guy knows what I look like and I don't know what he looks like... fair is fair.

 

3) What if I can't get it up with the guy cuz he doesnt attract me? That is why I have to know before I go.

 

Bottom line...

 

If it makes you uncomfortable, don't do it. But if you are interested in the entrepreneurial amateur twink market, and you like to hire "newbies", you will eliminate a large part of that market if you won't do it.

 

And just remember, some of the guys who get reviewed on this site for the very first time are because some client was willing to see them without a review, and sent a pic of themselves to that apprehensive young man.

As an escort I must confess that this strikes me a little odd. It is as unusual as when a client-to-be sends a picture of himself.

Unless a client has an important physical feature that I should be aware of, (Lets say 1 or 3 arms, no legs, weight 600 pounds or live on a wheel chair) I really dont need to know anything about it. I am very surprised when I see escorts asking for picture or when I see clients volunteering it.

I can guess that what he feels comfortable with is meeting guys that he feels attracted to, but after all, this is not a dating service, right?

MY advise would be not send your picture if you dont feel comfortable with that unless you have a very pressing interest in meeting this twink of yours.

If he insists and he says that it is for the purpose of safety and you want to try something, then send one of those pictures that we all hate to receive... (A far away shot with poor lighting, no details at all, absolutely dressed and with a messy background.)

If he keeps insisting for a body revealing close-up... then, offer him to send one, as long as he gives you HIS credit card number and pays for it.

Personally, if I was hiring an escort, I would like to feel that I shouldnt worry about how I look. I should be absolutely sure that I dont have to attract him... However I do know some escorts that call themselves "selective" and service only the gorgeous and fit... (They dont do more than 1 call every two weeks, of course)

This has been asked before. Marc Anthony gave you some very sensible answers, but the consensus has largely been that it is the mark of a non-serious or very new to the business escort. There are also threads about hiring for overnights and the extreme majority consensus of most clients is not to do this without a prior meeting and hire experience with the escort. Additionally, while someone needed to hire ALL of us prior to our first review, the consensus on that matter would be not to hire an unreviewed escort for an overnight.

 

Otherwise, I think from the escort perspective, Juan nailed it more or less right: it is unprofessional, it is highly uncommon among professional, well reviewed and well regarded escorts and the only value would be in advising the escort of something he needs to know (which is better done in an e-mail or phone conversation than with a photograph), such as a physical piece of information that would impact performance or otherwise should be shared (e.g., snoring on an overnight).

Let me start by saying that I feel it unwise to commit to a long-term hire without hiring for an hour or two first (especially where travel is involved). Secondly, I would be wary of hiring an escort who hasn't been reviewed. How can you be sure it's not a police entrapment scheme, unless he's a porn star or given you other reasons to know he's not involved with law enforcement? (That being said, I don't think a cop would go on a trip with you just to make a bust).

Other than the obvious reason (assessing compatability), one of the main reasons to hire an escort on an hourly basis before making a long-term commitment is that you can usually negotiate a better price, assuming you're fun to be with for whatever reason. The only legitimate reason I can think of for an escort to want your picture beforehand would involve the price negotiation. In other words, he's more likely to give you a price break if you're attractive.

You haven't let us know why you want to hire someone long-term whom you've never met and who has no track record. I might speculate that you live in a small town and that he offered a fair price to come to you. If that's the case, and you're still negotiating the price, then sending a picture doesn't seem too unreasonable. I guess I could have the guy fly here for a few hours ...for the first time we meet....Am I correct that many wont fly 3 or 4 hours to escort for 3 or 4 hours...and then hop on the plane back?? Here's the deal--when they ask for a pic right off, then you know without question that their concern in NOT with providing you a good service, but rather, with finding a hookup that they can get into and off on AND get paid for--both -- and who can blame them. If you're that dude, then why hire--just stick out your profile and find someone who's interested in you for a non-commercial meeting.

 

There are reasons that guys pay for sex--and not all are becasue of age or looks, but those are probably the more common. Anyway, If you're gonna fly someone across the country, then you may as well make it all night--it's gonna cost the same and if you're incompatible, then say good-bye and you're no worse off than the way you suggested.

Well... like I mentioned above in my post, it may very well be that asking for a pic means that it is all about them... but not always. Some of these guys are just apprenhensive, and a visual helps overcome that.

 

I don't think there is a right or wrong answer here because it is all about risk/benefit tolerance. Some people who gamble in futures make big killings, and others do the slow and steady thing with money in the bank. You can argue all day with each of them, but it is all about what makes them comfortable, and ultimately what works for them.

 

For me, if I want a boy bad enough, and I feel comfortable with my communications with him, and he wants a pic, I send it. For others, that won't work. The whole idea behind hiring is that it should be fun... which means that if you feel uneasy and uncomfortable, you aren't doing it right.

Unless you have no week-ends free, you're better off taking at least a week-end, then sampling two escorts who seem fine to you at whatever city. It's a lot less expensive than hiring someone else to come over (although it sounds like the guy you were going to hire was willing to travel for free), and you get to keep the frequent flyer miles. Once you've assessed compatability, then negotiate for future travels. The other reason for asking for pics...

 

Especially on Craigslist, is to weed out picture collectors and people who aren't serious.

 

I can understand the desire, Craigslist specifically can be an enormous time drain. Some people seem to only be on there for the purpose of corresponding, as long as possible, with no intention of having any fun in the end.

 

But I'm not sure demanding a picture helps much anyway. For one thing, a pic collector can just send you somebody else's pic.

 

And I agree that even with free hookups and especially with pay ones, the people who don't demand a pic are usually a lot more fun.
