You're right. It's an even year.

the Giants are the thing I miss most about SF....shared seasons with 4 guys until a few years ago...3rd base line 10th row.....saw some amazing games. Still my favorite ballpark to watch a game in.

It seems to me that the NYMets won the National League last year. In doing so, they swept the Cubs in four straight. This year they have Cespedes from the beginning of the season and four dominating starters and an inning eating strike machine in the fifth slot. They won 90 games last year, so 87 seems like a ridiculous guess and once the playoffs start, no National League team has the pitching to match them. So jabber on about the Card and Cubs, they may win more during the season but the Mets will win more in the post-season. Best bet on the Board The Mets over 87. Second best bet Cubs under 101. And for the Cub fans, the first century without a World Series is the hardest.

I have always lived on the east coast, so my comments about the Cubs and Cards are based on the excellence of the team (Cubs) and the excellence of recent history and the owner and general manager (Cardinals) rather than being a fan.

Once. I was 5 years old. It was hot as hell sitting in that sun.

that is interesting you r,ember the heat. ...when I was little, probably 5 or 6 my pop took me to see a Phillies game. he loved their new rookie player. the only thing I remember was how hot it was and I HATED it. I bitched and whined the whole game. so,did my brother. our seats were for the us poor people and sucked. I remember telling my mom that my pop was trying to kill us by burning us to death! LOL

we moved to the Midwest a couple years later. every time my dad wanted to take me to a Cubs or sox game after that I would groan thinking about that day in the sun. so he stopped asking me. my pop and I were not real close growing up as he worked about 80 hours a week usually the swing shifts to make ends meet.

it wasn't until I was about 9 and I started playing ball myself and fell in love with the game did I really get going to a game. I wasn't really a Cubs fan but I did love watching a ball player from the Phillies...every time they played the Cubs I found a way to see them play. somehow I ended up at a game with my pop where the Phillies were playing and imagine my pops surprised when I was cheering Mike Schmidt my favorite player. this was the rookie he brought me and my brother to see all those years ago. he was also my pops favorite player.

this became our thing we wild watch every sing Phillies game we could catch on tv (this was pre cable) and he helped me collect almost 15 years of complete Phillies baseball cards which I still have to this day. it's one of the very few childhood memories of my pop. now I understand what was happening with his job but back then if felt personal that he wasn't spending time with me or my brother.

my pop and I are close now but that still took a few more years to happen...I am going to call him tomorrow and remind him I love hm

This thread reminds me of the fact that I might not be able to watch baseball this year as Comcast, which is my cable company, has been at an impasse in negotiations with the Yankee owned YES Network for the past several months. As such the channel has been blacked out. So far fans of basketball's Brooklyn Nets and soccer fans have not been able to have any influence on Comcast's decision. However, as baseball season approaches and reality sets in I wonder how many Yankee fans will put up a protest and thus force Comcast to rethink their decision.

Well, based on the above projections, it probably will all be a mute point and perhaps Comcast is doing Yankee fans a favor by not having us waste our time on a loosing proposition. It will be interesting to see what if any progress is made in the next few weeks.

Call him each day and tell him. He doesn't need reminding, he has always known it, but he needs to hear it each day because that may be the highlight of his day, the one thing that makes that particular day bearable.

+1, Mike Trout partially inspired my stage name. He's quietly dominated the major leagues since he first got called up.

No doubt he is a great player. You should have done a complete homage....Mike Shark or

Mike Blowfish. If you were a total top.........Mike Seab.....everything but the ass.
