Yes I've seem him on my infrequent visits. Arrives with literally a bag of cash and takes one dancer after another to the back for private dances. That said, the dancers were still giving other customers attention.

I've seen him a few times. Definitely not as fun when he's around...a lot of the dancers don't bother walking around the room at all.

Luckily I've never been there when D.L. is there. Either that, or I didn't notice...I personally like it sometimes when the dancers aren't talking to me.

You'd notice straight away. I've never seen anyone blatantly throw so much money around like D.L. does at Stock.

Just hope you don't go to Stock Bar on a night when Drunk Lawyer (DL) is there. This guy, who is apparently a very wealthy lawyer from the US, visits Montreal at least once a month. He picks up the drink tab for all dancers in the bar for the several hours that he's there on Friday and Saturday night. And he spends huge amounts of money on dancers. One dancer, who I had gotten to know pretty well, told me that DL gave him $800 for a dance that lasted 6 songs (ordinarily $20 per song). Another dancer got $500 for five songs and all he had to do was stand there while DL inspected every inch of his naked body with a flashlight.

You can tell when DL is there because he holds court at a table near the dance floor and a big group of dancers are sitting with him or very nearby. They hover around him like flies and ignore other customers. The first time I encountered DL at the Stock Bar and learned what was happening, I left early, as did a lot of other customers. I wish there was a way to post a “stay away” warning if someone knows that DL will be at at the Stock Bar.

Sounds like a genuine cash cow for the dancers and staff. Who could blame them. Like hitting the jackpot. I can see how he would suck all the air out of the room.

I hate idiots like DL who "spoil the market" by throwing insane amounts of cash for little in return. No wonder the last I spoke to some of these Montreal dancers they are asking for cad300-500 for privates and they insist on not doing anything much (for example they wouldn't even touch your dick), so no thanks for me. I mean you can get high-end escorts who are models/porn stars in NYC/Miami/LA for the same price or lesser and would do everything from anal to water sports to whatever you fancy, so screw you, you overpriced Montreal dancers.

Quick update: Campus DOES have a cover after 8pm. They're open 3 to 3 and Stock is open at 8. Ladies night at Campus on Sunday and on Weds at Stock. Stock closed Mondays.

Had a private with Jordan at Campus last night. Lightly hairy (rare for these guys) and has worked there many years in addition to his good day job. In great shape in all ways. Confident, friendly, and eager to please. Very much a man's man.

Jordan is really nice. Lots of fun to hang out with. Also he has one testicle that is much larger than the other. So interesting and sexy!

Latest brief update:

Pepe at Campus is fantastic. Tall and possibly has the biggest dick I've seen, especially when he has fluffed it up a bit. It still hangs low when half-hard, adding to the impressive appearance. Sorry to get clinical there.

We asked dancers at both Stock and Campus if they'd ever heard of some big-spending US lawyer and all instantly knew what we were talking about! We learned a lot more, too, about him. Glad he takes care of his guys.

I also did a private with Aiden at Campus. Good guy. And had a good convo with Martin, apparently a former manager at Stock, but now at Campus. Martin is a fantastic dancer and another cool guy.

More random comments while on the train to QC now:

A guy asked if I wanted to buy half a gram of cocaine while I walked St Catherine. I wasn't appalled and rather liked experiencing the local color (colour).

Nice casual fish and chips place called Comptoir 21 on St Catherine near Campus. Also, Cora is easy to drop in to for casual and friendly breakfast. The well-marked Station Sports sports bar/restaurant was adequate for a quick late lunch, but not particularly unique. A dancer strongly suggested La Grosse Truie Cherie for a nicer dinner. As mentioned earlier in this thread, St Hubert, a local chain, is good for chicken, according to that same dancer. Tim Horton's is, of course, a Canadian standby for casual coffee and snack stuff.

The Governeur Hotel is in an unbeatable location for the strip clubs, but is only middle-of-the-road accommodations. Entirely adequate and clean, but not for those demanding the Ritz or Four Seasons. Beggars and homeless sleeping over the heat grate right outside the door.

Very nice IGA grocery store directly adjoining the hotel across from the "back door" of the hotel in the office complex (Dupuis) the hotel is part of.

A nice Nautilus Plus gym is a ninety-second walk from the hotel with a C$17 day fee. Hotel can point you in the right direction.

Friendly fee-free currency exchange at a TD bank a couple blocks from the hotel. Other banks nearby like National Bank are fine, too.

Will post more later. Arriving in QC now.

Thanks for the tips. I have reservations for June at the Hotel Saint Denis which from the pictures and reviews on TripAdvisor looks really nice--only $78 per night American--about 5 blocks from Stock & Campus from what I can tell. Regarding drugs (I do not do cocaine or the like,) I live in WA where pot is legal. a substance which has done me no serious damage over the last 47 years. One downside to international travel (or any travel involving airplanes) is not being able to pack anything for personal use (the risks far outweighing the advantages.) What I find amusing is that Canadian growers used to smuggle marijuana over the Cascades into northern WA. Well I guess that particular trade route is no longer functioning, unless the flow is now in the other direction. Ironic.

Was Pepe formerly Sacha of StockBar? I can't seem to find his info online anymore. Alternative name and description seem familiar.

This is an open letter to Drunk Lawyer.

First of all, sir, I apologize for using the moniker, Drunk Lawyer. I use it only because I have no other name for you. Second, it's been 3 years since my last visit to Montreal and I hope to visit again this spring. I would greatly appreciate it if you would send me a PM to let me know your travel dates to Montreal. That will allow me to schedule my trip around yours. This could mean one of two things. 1) I visit when you do, we’re at the Stock Bar at the same time and you invite me to sit at your table -- even if just for a short time. I'd enjoy being in the center of the action for a while. 2) I schedule my visit for a time that you are not in Montreal so I'm not at Stock Bar on a night when you've made yourself the dancer's top priority.

Let's make contact, Mr. DL.

Thank-you.

W.

I had dinner with a friend last week and we reminisced about Montreal strip clubs, and mentioned this person on his last visit, asking a nearby dancer what the story was. From what he said, there's lots more than just booze and generous private dances going on, if it is the same rich lawyer from out of town.

The Governeur Place Depuis hotel in downtown Montreal's Gay Village off Ste. Catherine Street is awesome. They recently renovated the top floors in Business class. Some of the floors are hardwood, and the showers are walk-in with floor-to-ceiling glass doors with tremendous shower pressure (if you bring your own shower head). The views from the top floor in Business class are stunning, especially if you're facing West and the Montreal skyline at night. The rooms have new flat screen televisions and air conditioning. Much better than some 4-star Priceline standard rooms.

I just booked a great deal last week on the Governeurs hotel's website for 25% off my entire stay. I will be visiting Montreal for my 13th time since I started going in May 2005. The USD / CAD exchange by then will likely be around a 50% premium, meaning for every $100 US dollars you will get $150 Canadian. That is how it's currently trending.

Not-to-mention the 747 Airport bus stops directly at the hotel, and it's right next door to Taboo and Campus, and the Berri-Uqam park with all the skinny twink male hustlers at your fingertips. The metro station Berri-Uqam is just footsetps away where all the action is. Plus, the IGA grocery store and Old Montreal are just a short walk away.

I'd much rather pay "25% off" on the Governeur hotel's website than get a "Priceline" standard room wtih a 4-star Priceline hotel.

I agree the Governeur hotel would suck if you get it bidding on 3-star Priceline hotels, or if you purchase a Standard room directly from the Governeur hotel, so don't do that! With Business class rooms you will get special access to top floors, free internet access and free hot breakfast included ($19 value) each day. With the exchange rate, I ended up paying around $125 US (including all taxes) for 3 nights for May/June for there best rooms available in Business class.

It's centrally located if you're looking to take advantage of Montreal's Gay Village and strip clubs and "parks". The metro/buses can take you anywhere else in Montreal you desire.

Plus, I got a great deal on a regional airline called Porter Airlines. If you switch the currency to Canadian before booking you will enjoy that awesome Canadian exchange rate. Also, Porter Airlines just happened to be offering a 25% off sale the day I booked, and I was lucky to also find an additional 10% off coupon at "Retailmenot" that I was able to apply.

Good deals are to be had if you spend just a little time doing your homework.

- You can come and go as you please throughout the night. If a dancer you're interested in is busy, try coming back when the crowd thins out after midnight.

If you are really hot for a particular dancer and he is busy or you just haven't had enough drinks yet, you should let him know as soon as possible, and make sure he believes you. Sometimes a dancer will leave early if they think they can't make any more money for the evening and you might lose your one chance, especially if you're only there for the weekend.

These guys can disappear for any number of reasons over the course of the evening, and it really sucks to miss out on your new favorite dancer because you didn't act fast enough.

Signed

Saw the notorious DL at Campus last night. He was low-key and pleasant enough, but the vibe of the place was different with his presence.

Had friendly privates with Bradley and Tommy. Promptly bailed after that.

How is the vibe different? Dancers swarming around DL like honey to the bee? I see that DL is at Stock tonight. What an annoying, attention seeking man throwing money to the wind just to have dancers buzzing around.

Them what has, gets.

I know of very well-to-do customers who go in, spend stupid amounts of cash at the back and/or privates, but are DISCREET ABOUT IT. If one feels the need to sit at the very front of the bar, make it known that he is filthy rich by bringing in a bag of cash, tipping everyone and their mother, then it is clear that he is seeking the attention...

I think I caught a bit of DL's act at Stock on line tonight. A bunch of dancers were seated around the foot of the stage where there were glasses, ice buckets and at least one hard liquor bottle with a pour spout. A dark haired guy between 40 and 50 (not bad looking) was handing out glasses and making toasts. Nothing particularly disruptive was going on that I could tell.

How old is this DL guy? Is he like some flashy playboy type? These posts make me very curious about him.

@Despardo says above he saw DL on the Stockbar webcam last night (Thurs)....his description sounds accurate.....he wears glasses, was wearing jeans and a casual shirt when I saw him at Campus Wed (was ladies night at Stock that night), and seemed to be about 5-10 or 6' tall-ish, 45-55 y.o. or so...."hwp", as they say....he was not flashy or pretentious.....had one or two "bodyguards/assistants" who, among other things, hold his money until he periodically needs more....professional and decent-looking, but not a stunner....all the dancers know his name and said it was "(his name) night" when he's there.....re: the vibe was different when he's there: I mean that it just feels like there is a distraction there and that DL is diverting attention....I asked one dancer for a private and wondered to him whether DL (I used his real name) wanted him instead...the dancer laughed and said no problem....the very-busy bartender still found time to come up to me and ask if I wanted another beer, so at least they pay attention to other patrons when DL is present.....in DL's defense, he appeared to be very undemanding and low-key....there was no finger-snapping or hovering staff, except for the dancers sitting with him hanging onto his every word....he tips each dancer on stage and some unknowing new patrons may wonder who the hell that bigspender is with five dancers sitting there with him

I've seen D.L at Stock a few times and the only time his presence was a real distraction was 0n a relatively quiet Thursday (where one side of the bar is cordoned off) and he had a lot of dancers surrounding him. There was one dancer I was really interested in and I had absolutely no hope of getting his attention.

On busy Friday and Saturday nights in the summer season his presence is certainly noticeable but the bar is busy enough with other patrons to give the place a good atmosphere and there were lots of dancers on the floor.

How D.L chooses to spend his money is of course entirely his choice and money obviously talks at Stock, but with the amounts he's willing to spend he could just book a hotel suite and invite dancers/escorts over for the night.
