Howdy Fellow Mc'ers~

Was wondering if anyone had the scoop on where Hawk's been, as i haven't seen any of his postings here on the boards lately. Maybe he's just laying low, but methinks his total silence is something much more...

Moderators: Any insight to this mystery?

Warmest Always,

Hawk is, indeed, suspended at this time. He's been given a "vacation" after THREE private warnings and several public warnings.

He had adequate warning that action was imminent. He participated in the decision through his own actions, and continues through the private emails he so lovingly crafts.

We're discussing his status. His responses to date do not bode well for his return, nor do his attempts to create new identities to skirt his current banishment. He declares himself proud to join the ranks of the banished and then tries to get in under a new name. Weird.

But the jury is still out. Nobody knows how this will play out, and the only one that will control it is Hawk.

I am disappointed that you'd let him drag you into this.

Dragging me into what praytell?

I simply wanted to get an official word on what's going on with this situation, as his posts were simply gone from one day to the next. A bit strange when looking in from the outside.

As for his semi-permanent banishment, i'm sure Hawk will do what he thinks is in his best interest. As caustic as some of his postings have gotten in the past, so have several others here on the MC and they still remain active posters. Things can get a little insane around here, but without a mix of colorful personalities, this place tends to become mundane pretty quickly.

I even acknowlege posters like Doug69, HairyDomBrazil, Donnie, FingFangFoom, etc, who (in the past & present) have gone head-to-head with me on certain issues, as great contributors to this MC. They're exercising their right to free speech, while spurring some interesting threads along the way. I'm actually beginning to enjoy Doug's posts, as i think of him as this board's Howard Stern.

Yes, that's a compliment :)

Heck, i think we should vote people off this board, Survivor-style. If the moderators feel it's unnecessary to have someone continue to contribute, then they can ultimately leave it up to the people who are the heart & soul of this MC. The posters.

I'm not arguing with you Deej, but simply expressing how i feel. Maybe it's not on track with things, but i wanted to get it out there anyway. No harm intended. In any event, i appreciate you setting the record straight and letting us know what's cooking.

I always miss the "big" stuff and I am always the last to show up at a crime scene (I would make the laziest super hero). In a nutshell, what ever happened to FingFangFoom? I know he breached many boundaries but I never heard of or saw his banishment. Did the jury pool for M4M say enough is enough?

>...if you didn't like Hawksters posts - ignore them.

It's not a matter of whether you like his posts or not. He violated the rules and made repeated and numerous personal attacks against some posters.

Let him be disagreeable and let him argue. But make sure he does it within HooBoy's rules. And if he doesn't like the rules here, then he should open his own site.

I must say, I'd miss VaHawk terribly were he to be banished from this board. He is an odd one... one could never predict his rants. Whereas some members' reactions are predictable in their right or left leanings, one could never know when he might go off on some seemingly innocuous passage, nor which direction he might lean.

He is not predictable, that is for sure!

I often hear from former posters that they get tired of of the "flame trolls"on this board.

If restricting access to this board(putting some posters on warning or banning them altogether)increases the reader/veiwership on this site and makes it a more enjoyable/fun/comfortable place to visit then I fully support these actions.

This is not a public site,we are here as guests of hooboy.If a guest cannot contribute anything to the site and is constantly having to be told"watch your p's & q's"then that guest has outworn his welcome and should be asked to leave the party.

The high price of WAR

Benjamin,

I enjoyed meeting you when you were out here in L.A. and visited the Hooligan dinner. You are handsome, bright, and an easy conversationalist. I have no dog in this hunt, and like any written discourse, this may be misinterpreted in the absence of spoken inflection, body language, and tone. Let me be clear. what follows is not an attack on you or Hawk.

It's no secret that you are a favorite of Hawk's, and so it seems (mind you just saying it seems) a little disingenuous of you to start this thread taking the standpoint of an interested bystander, when most would ASSUME he has been in contact with you.

I am not privy to possible moderator discussions on the subject, and yeah, I have felt the wrath of the Hawk during one of his occasional rants. I have also reached out to him privately on those occasions to settle our differences in a positive way. But it seems to me that each of us must be accountable for our actions. You are correct to point out that there are a number of flamers who visit here and it may seem (again SEEM) that they participate with impunity. To me, it appears that the moderators do a good job of fairly meting out punishment for offenses.

If a person speaks his mind, stating his strongly held beliefs, then the benefit of getting something off his chest is worth the penalty he may have to pay for straying over the line. If someone's purpose is to test the line, he also must be prepared to take the correction. If a guy is just here to flame, then he stands to lose his playground if his privileges are withdrawn. In all cases listed above, the penalty may seem severe, but no more severe than the offense. If you cannot disagree without name calling, then it's no different than a teacher on a playground at recess.

It is possible to have a discussion of many topics without the personal attacks. War has it's price.

VaHawk is a man of interesting and varied opinions. His contribution to this message board has been vastly greater than that of his critics, a group of people whose writing is about as interesting as mildew.

I note with considerable amusement that he is being censured for personal attacks by posters who have themselves engaged in such attacks on many occasions. Either they have no sense of irony, or they think everyone who frequents this board suffers from amnesia.

It is with equal amusement that I read exhortations to obey the rules or suffer the consequences from individuals who feel free to ignore the rules about drugs and prostitution whenever it suits them to do so, and who would complain loudly and bitterly if ever they had to "suffer the consequences" of their actions. As Doug69 has sagely observed, in a message board devoted to hiring escorts one would expect to find people who have a "live and let live" attitude on the subject of rulebreaking in just about any area, but the truth is exactly the opposite. Doug, don't you ever get tired of being right about people? :)

I never figured you for advocating martyrdom, Woodie.

Hawk was censured because after several private requests to tone it down (a courtesy extended only because he's a long-time poster here) he not only didn't tone it down, he became even more shrill and harsh and had even more posts deleted for inappropriate content.

He thought we were kidding. We were not.

He was like a kid on a playground testing limits. He found it.

My friends call me Woody. You may call me Woodlawn.

I suppose I missed the posts you are referring to. I'll try to imagine what they contained. One of the people who has criticized Hawk in this very thread recently called me an "ignorant piece of garbage" because I said I don't know that Pasadena has much of an art scene; you didn't delete his post, so I guess Hawk's must have been a lot worse. But since we are talking about a site on which I have seen posts from someone who wanted to view the naked body of the late Pat Tillman and which used to publish naked pictures of kids from Eastern Europe who looked about 15, it will not be easy for me to imagine what you considered "inappropriate content."

>He thought we were kidding.

Maybe he thought that because he couldn't believe that you would find people who indulge in namecalling to be intolerable while you tolerate people who advocate prostitution, sex tourism, adultery and drug use. How silly of him!

Gosh, ya think?

Lack of evidence has never stopped YOU from offering your own spin on things, of course.

Yeah, how silly.

He was told it might happen. We was warned it was imminent. He was told it WOULD happen.

It happened.

Spin it any way you like.

Yeah, I think so. Of course, since you claim they were "deleted," they must have been on the board for people to read at some point, or they could NOT have been "deleted." I just didn't happen to be reading the board when they were up. Got it now?

>Lack of evidence has never stopped YOU from offering your own

Heavens! That sounds just like a personal attack! Rather than merely addressing a point I made in my post, it makes a negative comment about me personally. As everyone can see.

Never let it be said that we didn't agree on anything.

You have always been so quick to resort to personal attacks yourself that I have long felt that designating you as a "moderator" must be Hooboy's idea of a joke. And a very funny joke it is, too. :)

"My friends call me Woody. You may call me Woodlawn"

As far as I can tell,you are down to one "friend"on this board-and with friends like that,well you know the rest.

" what they contained. One of the people who has criticized Hawk in this very thread recently called me an "ignorant piece of garbage" because I said I don't know that Pasadena has much of an art scene"

Ohh woodie I have called you worse than that!

And I love how you parse this to look sooooooo inocent.Girl get real,the people reading this stuff know that you did not just claim ignorance of the art scene in lovely pasadena-it was in response to a flame response to another post-one that did not even involve you,but one that you just felt you could not let pass by because of your(and I'm just guessing here:P )dislike of my onscreen persona.Happy to dig up the post if you would like.You acted like garbage,a filthy piece of garbage,and I called you on it.

"Maybe he thought that because he couldn't believe that you would find people who indulge in namecalling to be intolerable while you tolerate people who advocate prostitution, sex tourism, adultery and drug use. How silly of him!"

There you go again just pulling "facts"out of your ass.

This is a site that deals with the less puritanical aspects of the gay world,there are plenty of sites with stick in the mud holier than christ fags where you would be welcome to chime in with your opinions regarding the wicked libertines who might post about the matters you find so distateful.

You are such a tired old flame troll.Cannot wait till you get kicked off also.

Well, now that I know I'm not popular with people as wealthy, cultured, influential and successful as you are, I guess the only thing left for me to do is have a good long cry about it. LOL!

Nothing "harsh" or "shrill" about the above. I can certainly understand why mean old Hawk got kicked off while this character is allowed to go on and on and on and on. :)

Yup. Making your case from something you don't and can't know. It's an old habit of yours.

As interesting as your fantasies are, they stray far from the topic of this thread.

* Hawk was warned repeatedly

* Hawk ignored warnings

* Hawk was suspended

* Woodie objects

Wanna get back to that or are you just looking for a reason to beat me about the head and shoulders?

What case? I merely said that I must have missed the posts you claim were deleted for "inappropriate content." Is there something about that statement you would challenge? If not, why do you keep going on and on and on about it?

Any complaints about hijacking threads should be referred to Rick Munroe, who is president of the "Hijacking Threads is Good" club. I am merely a rank-and-file member.

I don't think it is necessary to "get back to that." Others have made the point that this board will be poorer without Hawk and I agree with them. Others have made the point that banishing Hawk makes little sense while hateful personal attacks, including some from the very people who are supposed to regulate this place, proliferate. I agree with them too. The only thing I have to add is that if you keep denying what is obvious to everyone, people may begin to suspect that you are really Dick Cheney. :)

Then why are you posting to this thread? That IS the topic here.

Oh, wait! Is this the thread about Swallows returning to Capistano?

In the immortal words of Emily Litella, NEVER MIND.
