The country is getting darker, no doubt.

As an Irish-American born in 1940 I used to be called ethnic and my folks couldn't even imagine someone in the family getting married to another ethnic group: Italian, Jewish, Polish or White (Anglo-Saxon).

 

Do you think Italians and Jews are white or do you think they might look but they technically aren't white? You have a lot of them in NYC, and most of them are very handsome.

Very good question. At one time there were models and unemployed actors who did escorting part-time, mostly through escort agencies in NYC. I am thinking particularly of an escort agency called Wow.

 

Wow's escorts were clean-cut, non-ethnic, swimmer's build. But, it must be more complex than the end of almost all escort agencies.

To answer the original question....little television is made in NYC anymore. You are talking about the aspiring actor look....and those no longer exist in New York. Actors in NYC NOW are working steady Broadway gigs or they leave for Los Angeles. The men who look most like what you describe NOW are in finance....and do not need to sell the dick by the hour....

Ongoing changes in the nation's demographics are certainly appreciated. However, these changes have been evolving for a generation and a half. The changes which N13 is describing have occurred over a period of six to seven years.

N13 is not being racist or ethnocentric. He is merely expressing his preference for the Corbin Fisher type. I too share the same interest. There used to be a wider variety of escorts to suit most any preference. As I see it now, there are basically two types of escorts advertising. One is a pale white boy in his early twenties who weighs about 100 lbs and poses in his pictures as if he is doing a really poor Marilyn Monroe impression. The other is a 3o to 40 year old ( although they all claim to be 29) latin male with facial hair sporting a variety of tattoos that he will regret when he is no longer a "boi".

These changes can not be attributed merely to changes in the nation's demographics. Where are all the lacrosse players and former closeted frat boys??

The world (including the world of male escorts) is wider than pale thin white boys in their early 20s, 30-40 year old Latin men with facial hair and tattoos, lacrosse players, and former closeted frat boys. Perhaps the former two are what is common where you live?

 

This strikes me as a case of hyperbole as applied to the US in general. I'm not sure what a lacrosse player looks like, but I don't remember meeting any escorts at last year's DC forum lunch who meet any of your other descriptions either pro or con with maybe one exception of someone who could pass as a former closeted frat boy. First of all, I do not think you were being racist when you posted this. Second, the trend in men's grooming is away from clean-cut. I suspect you would change your mind about some of the guys you do not find to be attractive if they shaved and got a haircut.

White is a vague construct rather like paint chips, there are many shades of white.The French and Italians are often described as having "olive" skin. I am sure they exist but I haven't seen a white olive yet. Some of the very pale would actually be better described as "PINK" rather than white.

A friend of mine worked in Big Sisters years ago and was discussing race with her little sister. The LS sister said "Those words are silly. I'm not black, I'm brown. You're not white, you're pink". :-)

As far as race goes there is only one biological race - the human race.

As has been proven it's in human nature to categorize people. Toddlers do it. But we also have the capability to transcend our prejudices.

Regarding religion look how many Americans are lumping all Muslims together. The same has happened to Jews and Catholics in the past.

This my $0.02 - the term "non-ethnic" is a throwback to when the categories were WASPs, blacks, Asians, Latinos, and various European immigrants. Of course they were called different (and sometimes ugly) names then. But I believe "ethnic" was code for new immigrant ethnicity. So imho just say white or Caucasian.
