  1. Do you play the Powerball or other lottery?
  2. Would you join a lottery "pool" with co-workers or others?
  3. If you won what would you do? (besides the obvious) ;)

If these questions have been asked before I apologize but my goal is to get promoted to count before my brother-in-law's Super Bowl party. So I have something to brag about.

My answers:

  1. Yes regularly my second guilty pleasure.
  2. Yes with rules and only people I really trust.o_O Always buy my own on the side. ;)

  3. Too numerous to mention but a large portion would go to help all those causes which I can't afford to help now. :)

I never play lotto, but I rcently won two dollars on a lotto ticket that was given to me as a Xmas gift. I was advised to cash in the two bucks for a Powerball ticket.

I decided to take the money and run instead.......

1. only when the pot gets really, really huge

2. no way....too many horror stories

3. pay off bills....then, with the other 99%, I'd give to charities and keep just a bit for fun money

my only big lottery payoff was in Wyoming this last summer....it's a very favorite state of mine, so I spent $15 on tickets....found out later I won $30....shoot, in an effort to enrich Wyoming, I ended up cheating a favorite state of mine out of $15!....

1. I have a year subscription to state lottery (just one number), then play Powerball and Mega Millions when they get big. I stopped going to the casino.

2. Was in a regular pool in the 90's. Never won.

3. I would not tell anyone. Then, find good money management, make a few discreet real estate purchases, and enjoy my new life, while remembering to use some it to (anonymously) help those people and organizations in need.

1) Yes. I play anywhere from $2 to $20 a draw. When it's huge, I pay more. (Rather like my other favorite hobby ).

2) I have in the past but it gets to be a pain. So I don't do it anymore. Also, I want the whole thing to myself. (Rather like my other favorite hobby ).

3) I would wallow in self-indulgence. (Rather like my other favorite hobby ).

1) Yes, but only when it gets over $200 Million.

2) No, never.

3) I'd buy a small home in Aspen, a small villa on St. Barts and a Pied-à-terre in Paris and New York.

The interesting part of the question! :) My apts would be in NYC, Berlin and Tokyo.

Although they would then likely stand empty while I dallied in Phuket & Pattaya.

1. Only when it gets over a certain amount.

2. Maybe

3a. Among other things, try to be

1) financially secure for the rest of my life, while

2) still doing good in the world, somehow.

3b. Buy some clothes that dress this 52-year-old like an adult instead of what is generally out there (teen wanna-be stuff)

1. Play rarely--like now when it's over 300 million

2. I've done that once or twice

3. Milwaukee forum meet-up with lodging and transportation subsidies. And a couple of meals on me.

There's not much point in joining a lottery pool. The big increase in the likelihood of winning comes with the first ticket - your odds go from zero to infinitesimal, which is an infinite percent increase. Buying two tickets means your chances double from infinitesimal to infinitesimal*2, but that's still infinitesimal.

If I played and won here's what I'd do.

1. Pay off all my debt

2. Fix my teeth

3. Find as low tax burden way to stash the cash

4. Open up my ice cream shop

5. Open a lgbt center for youths and for seniors

6. Open a low cost lgbt living for seniors and youth.

7. Open up a no kill animal shelter for cats and dogs.

8. Travel like the dickens

9. Buy up as much land as possible and build my tiny house out in the mountains and a NYC penthouses

Augh! Fine I'm breaking down and buying a ticket. I would be OK with winning a few hundred thousand. That's still enough for me to do what I need and have cash left over.

Hugs,

Greg
