No, I understood that. Explain to me where the rush to judgment was when they claimed to have found child porn on his computer, without which he wouldn't have been arrested.

 

I would like to see fewer assumptions that a mass murder is due to Islamic extremism because that's a knee-jerk and somewhat prejudiced reaction. But that someone who's arrested for possession of child pornography because it was found on his computer is nevertheless innocent is laughable unless law enforcement is lying or the images were somehow manipulated.

 

While I assume he was guilty too, plenty of websites/malware have the ability to place files on your computer and it's not inconceivable to me that someone could have stuff on his machine without his knowledge if s/he were not particularly tech savvy. And it's not clear to me that law enforcement is going to try too hard to make sure he actively sought it out.

No, I think isolating is a better solution than punishing. Society needs to protect itself from pedophiles, not kill them. As far as I’ve heard, Mark Salling never actually touched a child, yet his life seems to have been deemed worthless. Why not put them all on an island like Lanai, and just make sure no children go there? Isn’t that better for everyone?

For that to even be defensible as an idea I think you would first have to demonstrate that consumers of child pornography are more likely to abuse children. A couple of German studies have suggested this is not the case.

 

More importantly, you're likely to end up with a substantial chunk of the male population indefinitely removed from society. You would also need an island for female pedophiles, since you presumably wouldn't want to risk them having children.
