Me personally, no. However, I've heard things. :p

My vote is only going to go to working guys I actually met/seen for that given year. I truly believe Andrew Justice deserved to win last years, but I didn't see him at all in on 2014. So I didn't vote for him. I would have voted for him the year prior to his win, but I thought he was already EOY. That was my mistake. When he won i was super happy for him.

With that said, sadly there is not a set rule against pleading for votes or voting for someone you've never seen. I can understand an escort voting for another escort they haven't met/experienced as more a peer thing. ...but that's my own belief on the matter. :)

I most certainly did (two years in a row now). This year in the form of an "emergency" text in the middle of the night. Unlike last year where I deleted the numerous messages, I saved the present message for posterity. Definitely NOT appreciated.

I have no problem with self-promotion. People do that all the time. Shows initiative. On the other hand, I do not feel comfortable voting for someone I have not actually met--at least not on this particular forum. When Rentboy used to have their yearly awards, it was more a beauty contest, and probably most of the votes were based totally on the pictures in the ads, not based on having spent time with the escort. As it turns out, I have not had the pleasure of keeping company with the 4 or 5 top contenders for this year's award from Daddy. I chose to vote from personal experience for the the guys I met who went above and beyond anything I had expected, which happens rarely.

I have been approached by an escort I saw this year. He presented the request as a "did you know about EOY..." and "I would appreciate your vote". I have no issue with it since it was done in a manner which I consider appropriate and respectful.

On the one hand, I wouldn't want to rub someone whom I had never met the wrong way by reaching out to him without being solicited in some way.

On the other hand, I doubt it would hurt my business. I doubt someone would say, I was going to meet X and vote for X, but now I'm going to meet Y or vote for Y instead because I don't like the way that X contacted me. If you are good enough to get away with asking for votes or asking a stranger to meet you when you're traveling to a certain city, more power to you. It's not the classiest thing to do, and I wouldn't personally do it in all but the rarest of circumstances, but I would think it more likely to spark interest than to deter people, that clients remember the experience they had with an escort much more than they do the solicitation.

Didn't Jawjateck's Tumblr that you posted on a different thread give the impression that you rub people the right way?

I have only hired one escort in the past dozen or so years. A different escort contacted me recently

to wish me a happy t-day, and then after I responded, solicited my vote for EOY.

Only mildly off-topic, I took a conducting class as part of my pursuit of a music degree; the

last class before the final, everybody sat in a circle and had to say what grade in the class

they thought the deserved and argue for it. (And this without warning, prior).

I made known my extreme discomfort at that and refused to state a specific grade; the instructor's point was self-promotion is a necessary tool in the trade.

Solicitation and Self-promotion can be viewed one or two ways, and that is: Good or Bad.

In some cases it can result to 50% good or 50% bad for some people depending on who the person is overall, and if you want to see them successful and grow as an escort or not.

Yesterday, I myself was approached by 3 different escorts in different states (2 here on the forum 2 days before the announcement, and 1 by via text message after the announcement) asking for me to vote which was a shocker as I don't get asked directly usually, but didn't see they're request as anything bad thing or insulting.

Maybe it's due to the fact of me being an escort myself who's in the business that's always promoting yourself often in order to be hired, and can understand where they're coming from in only wanting a chance to excel, and succeed further in they're career.

I have to admit it isn't easy to be an escort in today's market as we're in a business you constantly having to promote, and prove yourself as an established escort in order to get ahead in the industry.

Now don't get me wrong - being an escort (at least for me) is very rewarding, but can be tough at times too, seriously. It's what you make of it, and if you enjoy what you do - in my eyes, your already a success. :).

I've been in the business now for going on 17 consecutive years, and find myself still til this day learning something new and different everyday in today's world of escorting, so that's why I never shun or discredit in helping others as I know what it's like to have had others take me in under they're wing in helping me grow, and be of a success. That kind of thinking is called: Never forgetting where you came from. Wink.

Til this day, I continue to wanna grow more, and more in this business, and pray to God maybe one day I'll be blessed enough in reaching a high elite status of achievement in the industry.

There's always room for growth in any profession.

You don't need EOY to be the very best at what you do, but do understand from clients who have hired escorts have mentioned in the past that EOY does show a high level of accomplishment in being one of the TOP Elite escorts in the business which demonstrates a high level of achievement to have under your belt.

Honestly, I(myself) don't want to dismiss someone else from an opportunity in getting EOY as that'll be selfish if not childish in helping others outside myself win.

Now, seeing that Daddy has confirmed recently in the current EOY thread that you don't have to have been hired by a potential client in order for them to put your name in the EOY voting system, but have had some exchanges communication with the escort that you find appealing - why not?

I can see on the other hand how self-promoting or solicitation can be considered offsetting too at times(that's a given), but sometimes it best to show support in the person you want to root for, and not condemn the escort for being self-determined, and eager to grow in the industry which in today's day and age isn't easy.

I would be kidding myself in saying otherwise as an active escort in today's society knowing they're intentions in asking me for an EOY vote were meant out of good intentions.

I personally (along with others who happen to be my top clients)think it's wonderful how other escorts or clients can be in support of one another to wanna do better and grow in the industry.

To set the record straight, these escorts who asked or what some would call of course "solicited" for my vote for EOY, are people I would consider anyway based on they're dedication in the business, stellar reviews, and an eagerness for greatness in the industry.

Would you say they may have solicited or self-promoted themselves, Yes. Was it out of bad intentions - Absolutely not. Reason-being because each and every one of these well-known guys have proven themselves as stellar escorts in the business, and are deserving of the award as well as any other escort who's looking to strive for greatness in they're career.

How am I gonna judge or discredit someone for being determined to do better? I can't fault one for being determined.

With that being said, we all do things at one point or another that maybe offsetting, (unaware to the person's disliking that is of course to the escort unintentional) but don't mean any harm by asking for a possible vote as its part of the trade in self-growth in one's career to some clients.

There are the kind of folks here on the forum who don't mind being asked by an escort they happen to like and wanna root for, and there are those who could be offset or turned off by solicitation or self-promotion as a form of desperation and being unprofessional for which the escort doesn't mean any harm or to offend anyone. I can speak base on experience looking at this from both sides of spectrum, and took(what I've been informed from others) it all in with a grain of salt as a learning lesson.

Still learning everyday about where I have a sense of belong in this business as once again isnt easy. But, after 14 out of 17 years of success, I can be proud to know I've done something right to reach a high level accomplishment so far without an award which has a merit in its own right. :)

For me, I find it best to always remain positive, and keep an open-mind to these sort situations as if the person truly is a GEM, and a kind-hearted soul of great humanity - help them out by being supportive in wanting to see them get ahead, and that can be in anything that life has to offer.

Whether it's raising money for a fundraiser or to put help put a poor kid through college etc. at the end of the day it's all about helping others(like yourself) be successful in seeing others succeed which can be the most rewarding gift of all anyday. :)

Shit, if they're asking for EOY can I have their clients? If they got time to be spam messaging everyone to cast a vote, then business must not be that good :D

Isn't this like being Prom Queen or being valedictorian ? You shouldn't have to seek votes to win, the way you maintain yourself and the way you speak to people should be the reason they cast a ballot.

I'm doing my own journey on this self promo thing. I no longer mind the blatant, outright vote-for-me approach to self promo. The kind of self promo that irks me is what I call "gotcha" self promo. Example: pretending you care about me by sending me a turkey day message the very same day daddy puts out his EOY announcement. I could not harness the kindness honcho displayed bc I knew that if the response was "oh btw, vote for me," I would lose it and go off on that escort. I just can't stand subterfuge. With that said, I must have compassion and empathy for folks who use trickery to attract attention/votes. Grant me patience!

I do think we need a few categories outside EOY. Here are my three top choices:

  1. EOY Forum hostess - the escort who constantly contributes positively and helps clients feel welcome
  2. EOY Forum tease - the escort who seems to get all clients frisky and riled up
  3. EOY truth teller- the escort who says it like it is, but does it with kindness and doesn't put people off

Also, I firmly believe there should never, ever be a client category bc there is no better person than Daddy

How is that for self promo to who really counts? ;)

Interesting -

I know when I was asked by one of the escorts it was 2 hours before the EOY announcement was made as no one I would think knew actually of Daddy doing the EOY announcement on TD as this has never been done this before if you look at the past history of the previous years.

I think we're struggling with the one EOY nominations right now. I really like this idea, I also thought "why not have a poll" but I can only imagine how many people would make fake accounts to vote, the gossip of people making fake reviews was enough for me to scratch my head on.

in closing, I think there should be a EOY Best Fake Review I remember there were 2-3 threads with this going on for a week last month, they flamed the shit outta the poor boy !

Brian, I don't think that is at all helpful. People who read the forum will have their own views. I like you, and JD, and others, I don't want to rank you or them, and I certainly don't want to write a negative list. If I had met a number of guys I might consider nominating a 1, 2, 3 but until I do meet them I'll just rejoice in the wonderful platonic relationships I have in here with so many working guys.

You are absolutely right, JD. My happy turkey day message came at around 859pm on t-day (felt like a cut and paste message with the writer totally butchering my handle...he was probably in a hurry!). and daddy's EOY announcement went out around 952pm. Eerily close, almost like my well-wisher had known in advance and was trying to beat the announcement. Obviously, this is all speculation on my part, but see, that's what subterfuge/gotcha self-promo does, it engenders mistrust and doubt.

Ok, I'm done with this topic. I'm feeling like I'm in the politics forum or worse...the comedy/tragedy forum! Have you guys seen the insane debates in there? snap, snap, snap in z formation happening non stop in that forum!

Again interesting as from I understand from higher sources NOBODY knew of the announcement being made exactly on TD.

Daddy never gave a set date to anybody when the announcement date would be as I understand it was decided very last minute on the spur of the moment situation.
