Yes or No to A4A since escort category removed?

It seems like every few months I'm asking this question. Adam has to be one of the most fluctuating sites to advertise on. Some cities I can meet lots of clients on there, other areas it's more like a graveyard shift.

But now...it seems to be quickly becoming more dead since the escort category was removed. I've already used it in about 4-5 different cities and the responses have been great, but the actual meetings have been only 1. That's just way too much time and energy spent on something that's not bringing atleast a client or 2 per week.

I'm actually considering going back to just using it for personal connections rather than a marketing venue. The most annoying thing about Adam, is my phone number is clearly posted. My ad is written like bullet format, very easy to read. My rates are up, people still ask my rate. People continue to send messages on there, oftentimes back to back instead of calling. And many times I'm in between locations and can't entertain back and forth messages, or half ass responses, and making me feel like I have to chase after them. Only for them to play more games.

Just wondering if more guys have decided to take down their ads. Of course, I do respond to my mail regularly, but even then, the replies seem kinda effortless and without follow up.

I like a4a, Mocha. As a client, I often contact several escorts to see who offers the best deal. I never call for a first contact, and I do not play games. Some escorts ignore my messages, probably thinking I should call if I am interested. Unfortunately those guys are not going to get my business.

I understand everyone may not wish to call, but some of the things are...ill be expecting to arrive in a city at a certain time, often traveling to and from another city which can be 500 miles apart. I'll give them the pertinent info, but then they start asking other questions...which can be addressed quickly by phone or text, rather than waiting 2-3 hours for me to reply on Adam again.

Meanwhile, they've been blowing me up on Adam asking. "?" Are you there, hello? When are you going to be here? By that time, I've passed that city 100 miles ago because if I keep stopping every few miles to chat with them, that just makes it take longer to reach my destination...only to find out they don't want to afford my rate, or can't host.

I've previously met great clients from Adam, I'm sure you'd be one of them. But the majority of them, even the serious ones really grate my nerves. Some seem either really reluctant to pay, or get a wild hair and do it once but like to remain in contact.

I've actually found an increase in activity...in some places. They are all different. I chalk it up to one of the non fun parts of the job. If I suspect someone is not clear what I do or hasn't read my profile and just responded to a picture (A LOT of people do this, or just read the first sentence.) I say something polite like -Hey thanks for getting in touch, make sure you read my profile for details and let me know if you are interested. Get in touch by phone or email if you want to set up an appt./session/meeting, etc.

That wont stop the people who will continue to message on there, or try to get something for nothing, but it's like any of our other interactions look for the red flags.

My main thing is guys who ask for massage rates. I have to sift thru 30 messages asking how much my massage rate is, when it's pretty clear what I'm offering. Why can't some people just say what the fuck (pun intended) they want!? Every person recently who has asked me for a massage has ended up wanting something sexual. Just get to it. You ain't gotta lie by omission, just to kick it lol.

All these sites are getting on my nerves right now. They don't let us say anything, they take down rates, Adam doesn't even allow dick size or top or bottom anymore, so I have to answer all these redundant replies that could easily be laid out already in my ad.

Don't get me wrong, not being a bitch. I don't mind coaxing a guy from the phone, to a massage, to full fledge fucking...but I cant answer 5,000 messages per day from people asking what's my massage rate, especially if that's supposed to include full fledge services or they won't include anything else about what they're wanting.

To be honest, its hard to shift through the masseurs to find the escorts now. (now that everyone on adam is listing themselves as masseurs) Messaged a guy on adam who was listed as a masseur.. he had pictures of everything body, full on erection, etc etc.. nope not an escort. he was actually offended lol :p

Oh please...haha. He "just doesn't use that term."

It's time to adapt adapt adapt! People expect massage rates to be at a certain level, but even if they want a sensual or erotic massage that is very different from escorting if you ask me.

Do you mind pretty please elaborating on why you "never" (really?) make first contact with an escort by calling?

FWIW this resonates with me. Even in purportedly sophisticated NYC, I had prospectives contacting me via an escort site inquiring about a massage rate which I was not advertising. One individual was upset that an escort rate would still apply despite his having said that he was interested in "a little anal session at the end." Another individual proceeded to advise me of the many instances of full service he'd received from masseurs (as though how some other providers offer their services should somehow map to how I handle my business).

If I may be so bold, it's as though some of these prospectives are looking to get a provider "on the hook" for a (lower-than-escort) massage rate and then, ahem, slide their way into getting more bang for their buck.

"Tedious, Clarice. Very tedious."

Really, BigRic, never. There is not much to elaborate here. I just don't do it.

When I am in the mood to try someone new, I go to the websites to compare candidates. Once I choose up to five, I send messages to start communicating. The call may happen after a few messages.

So it's perhaps an issue of the practical exigencies of your shotgun approach: In terms of your time, since you approach so "many" (a relative term, to be sure) new prospects at one time when you're in the mood, it's easier for you to message them than call?

You cite a good example of a provider who I would argue is 'muddying' the marketplace waters in terms of how he presents himself. It would be nice if it was as simple as, you go to a masseur site to find a masseur, and you go to an escort site to find an escort. I for "one" at least will be guided by that approach as I expand my marketing.

It helps me to make a more thoughtful decision. Ultimately, I do not pretend to be rational. I am a light OCD guy, maybe it is one of those rituals/routines/systems that help me to navigate life.

Mocha, from this client's perspective A4A has lost some of its value since they reclassified "escorts" as "masseurs." I don't like playing a guessing game. I can see where an escort would receive messages from clients expecting massage services because the ad states "masseur." One way to avoid this would be to advertise as a "consultant." My guess is few to no management consultants are using A4A to find business.

What about creating your own website? Everybody is being paranoid and extra careful after the rentboy raid.

I'm finding focusing on my website to be a healthy route to take. A4A doesn't seem to be worth the effort I was putting into it recently so I've broken up with it and am using time more efficiently. I also don't have to force myself into an either-or situation with my escorting or erotic massage clients as people already come to me for both. I refer to erotic bodywork and personal companionship services on my website though I'm not at all ashamed to be identified as an escort.

As some have said above, adaptability is a mark of the times we live in and I agree. In the end, I am pleased to bring people pleasure. We all have our specialties. Ads offer a certain standardization that is attractive to many clients. However, for me the website is great because I'm not trying to fit into a box and I can just be myself and let my personality shine through which seems to bring clients who appreciate me.

Amen brother. I hate that they took off the escort category. Many are also saying "no specific sex talk". Well I don't want to book a guy who advertises as a masseur and has several dick pics posted only to find out (too late) that he will only do massages (not that I don't like a good massage but, well, you get it).

I agree 100% I too have started revisiting my personal website and using that. Only thing is people usually have to find me first thru the ads or marketing, then the website is sort of seal of approval, and something more personal.

With what everyone else has said, I think I too may be making the transition off of Adam once my ad expires. I know there's a school of thought saying to advertise everywhere you can, but just as latinbear (no diss to him) has proven...you really have to spend a lot of time, and practically be a meth addict to deal with Adam. Because even though you try to make things easy and professional, there are still those who will expect you to chat with them first before they even make the call.

Let me tell you something. I can sit on adam4adam for 8-12 hours a day and answer every response round the clock in the HOPES, that a client like Latin bear who contacted 5 other guys, will pick me. Minutes turn to hours, hours into days. But, like Jared said...it's all about using time more efficiently. In case anyone has any doubts, I don't get paid for sitting on a4a answering responses all day. I only get paid when someone meets me.

I still have my A4A ad up because it is inexpensive and in some towns and small cities I get some business off of it. It has always frustrated me the number of time-wasters that I get from there, so I just recently changed my ad to say "due to restrictions on content, please visit my website, LanceSF.com for rates and info. I ask that all new clients contact me through there, not through here". If I have a new client send me a message on there I simply respond with "contact me through my website to inquire about scheduling". This tends to weed out the legit from the time-wasters.

That is true. I know of a couple places where a4a still does okay. but my main thing is they've picked up the men4rent style of editing; chopping words out without notifying you. They are really ridiculous for doing that. Every page has multiple ads of porn, even porn with suggestive words about paying for sex. For them to cower back now is just really weak.
