Speaking of sports, the Rugby World Cup final is going to be against the New Zealand All Blacks and the Australia Wallabies! Lots of delicious meaty men from down under!

Game 1 of the World Series tonight. Can we keep this sports thread going? Without gratuitous pictures of shirtless athletes? (I'm guilty but to my defense I was having trouble posting.)

Game 3 of the World Series so far a pretty good game. Lots of offense. Which I enjoy. :)

Was at the game the crowd was amazing as were the Mets. Now on to game 4 1986 Mets lose Game 1 by 1 lose Game 2 by 6 Win game 3 by 6

2015 Mets lose Game 1 by 1 lose game 2 by 6 Win game 3 by 6. Mets due to win game 4 if that pattern persists

Two walks an error and a single for 3 runs. Kansas City had two hits in the last four innings and scored 3 runs, the Mets had 2 hits in the ninth alone and scored nothing. This will make the Mets eventually winning the Series even more memorable. Greatness can only be achieved through adversity. The improbable can only occur when the odds are long. The Mets will only win the World Series when it seems almost impossible for them to do so. Look at 1969 and 1986. No wonder it has taken 29 years to concoct a tapestry so complex and yet so simple to out do those masterpieces.

With Murphy's error tonight I was reminded by EG Robinson's line in the Greatest Story Ever Told "So where's your Jesus nohhw Moses?" So Daniel. Where's you Jesus now? Please do not reply Kansas City.

What's wrong with posting threads about sports in the Lounge? It may be the catchall forum, but it gets more traffic than any other forum. Or so I understand.

Absolutely! We don't need another forum for sport! Now I may have posted a thread about the Rugby World Cup final in the Politics, Religion and War forum, but that's because any Australia/Aotearoa sports discussion belongs there. Others fit perfectly in the Lounge!

Since there doesn't seem to be any Aotearoa partisans here, you probably could have posted in the Lounge with impunity. But if you wanted to let the rest of us know how seriously Australia and New Zealand take rugby, you succeeded.

Well in 4 of the 5 game the Mets won the first 7 innings. Unfortunately in 3 of those game the Royals won the eighth or ninth or twelfth or fourteenth and as such it is the Royals who win the World Series. Hopefully some of these Mets will be back but Cespedes more or less guaranteed with his poor series and September that he will not be back and Murphy, despite his early heroics in the playoffs, never showed up for the World Series, so he will likely be gone. Also exiting will be Reed though he would be good to have back and Clippard, who I will be glad to see go and Johnson and Uribe. And a fond farewell to Bartolo Colon is likely. That is about 30% of the team.

Stars really aligned well for KC as they could have been out of the playoffs but came back time and time again against Houston and Toronto and again against the Mets.

Still it was a good year, just not a great year.
